could you keep it cool in the summer ?
Western Trillium (Trillium ovatum)

or maybe there is one back east that can handle the warmer weather ?

I wish! No, there's no way I could keep it cool...summer or winter. I just miss the woods...sans mosquitos. Thanks' for the offer though. Ah, Dick, you have been gone to long to remember how sketchy our weather is down here...90 degree heat waves in Dec.... then back to 50s/60s. We' re still doing that. Sighing!

Dick, since moving to WA, have wondered about buying trilliums. Have a shaded area north side of house that never sees sun, but is bright shade; stays damp except in mid-summer, but have sprinklers; gets winter rains; temp drop to 27f and highs of low 80f.
Yours look great. How long do blooms last, what months do the bloom? Any other guidance one should have?

thanks Dick. The hardest part is the sandy soil, but I could buy a bag and mix it in. I have seen advertisements locally.

Interesting how, now that the Centranthus is blooming, the pinks of that Camellia and the Mr. Happy are 'okay' now that there is a middle range pink between them...a 'medley' of pinks...of course there's not so much Mr. Happy now....lol...

Orange You Glad It's Spring?

Near the western tip of the Mojave Desert , fields of poppies color the landscape a bright orange this spring. On April 14, 2020, the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on the Landsat 8 satellite acquired images of vast blooms in the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve. This image was acquired when poppy flowers in the valley were thought to be at or near their peak.

I have a couple in my front bed. I've never gone out to view the poppy fields, but grew up seeing plenty of them...and many other wild flowers. The Aunt that raised me was a nature nut, so we had some cheap but interesting vacations/weekends, and we lived within a few doors of Irvine Ranch in Corona del Mar while I was in school, so nature was close...in those days.

Saw the fields probably 20-40 yrs ago, they are spectacular. So are the flower fields in most of the desert after spring rains, including Death Valley. First time seen from space. Thanks Dick
