I have been looking for basil plants to grow in containers and I can find
NO source for basil plants online or otherwise!

That's too bad. I am afraid they don't ship well, so soft.
You could try dividing and repotting a live plant from the grocery, if you find one.

I do not have a great history with basil. It is better in ground than a pot for me. Someone said they have deep roots.
Plant it and they will come.

That's because seeds are really easy to find, and planting basil with seeds is trivially easy to be successful.

Well as it turns out I was able to get 5 basil plants from a favorite
local nursery which I will pick up tomorrow.

I will be getting:
Sweet Basil
Genovese Basil
Purple Ruffle Basil
Thai Basil
and Pesto Perpetuai

So Doug L I did find several places where I could get hundreds of basil seeds
is it really that easy to grow from seeds?

Is basil easy to grow from seeds? Yes, very easy. Any large big-box display of seeds will have basil. If you keep them warm, germination time is about 10 days, and they'll be six inches tall in a month. I grow them most every year (though managed not to this year - my crop last year was ENORMOUS and I have dried basil everywhere).

Well I have now received all of my chili pepper seeds from Pepper Joe's and now I am only waiting for
one additional Seed Starter Kit and my Seed Starter Soil.
