It's officially over. Indian Summer is over and done with. This past weekend it was in the 70s and I planted some last minute stuff (Charles Joly Lilac http://davesgarden.com/guides/... & Sunshine Blue Bluebeard http://www.connon.ca/list3.php...). Yesterday was in the 70s (actual recorded temperature at the Denver International Airport was 75 degs).

It's snowing.

Guess that's it.

Zuzu - More than likely, the way this winter is going to roll, we won't have much snow or cold, so a milder, drier winter. Technically, it's not safe to put annuals or tender perennials into the ground until Mother's Day. I break that rule all the time... that's why we have blankets and old crappy comforters that not even the dog will lay on.

Well, the storm was short lived and plopped down only an inch, but it was the wet sloppy snow, so that translates to almost an inch of rain. Yay!!! I'm happy about that!! Any moisture is good moisture.

Plus it makes everything pretty.

And here's Picante. It got froze out last week, but the flower didn't break or fall off.


And the drive was very nice this morning. You can actually see the cold front on the mountains in some of these pix.

What I love about snow in the west is how it falls quickly and deeply, quiets the world in thick white blankets, then melts away in a day or two. No time to accumulate grunge and grime that reflect an ever-dripping gray sky.

I lived in the Detroit area and in Cleveland for a total of about six years and I am really happy for the sunny blue skies and warm afternoons we enjoy here in winter.
