It's pretty obvious that the company executives knew what they did was wrong and they did it anyway.

Yeah, I won't buy anything from Scotts: Miracle grow, Ortho or anything else. In my eyes, they're right up there with Monsanto and Cargill - the world be damned as long as we get our cash.

BTW, found this on Wikipedia: The company reported $2.8 billion in worldwide sales in FY 11 (Sept.) . So that fine didn't even make them blink.

What a silly company. They won't hire people who smoke, but look at their poisons!

I hate that the U.S. encouraged the whole GMO & Roundup Ready crops. I was listening to a guy Saturday that was talking about pollinators and butterflies. He said that there used to be large agricultural areas in some states that had just tons of milkweeds...not to mention other host plants for butterflies. The Monarchs would use the milkweeds during the growing season...now, all that is almost gone due to GMO. Milkweeds in particular have alsmost disappeared in some states. One reason for the decline of Monarchs. He came to Texas to give a talk because it's such an important state for butterflies. He painted a dim picture for the future of certain butterfly species if all that habitat loss continues.

Fines don't work with the big international corporations!
Suspending them from all business operations might work, but then the little guys who work for them are hurt!
It is a problem which won't be solved easily.

Hi Trish, yep, we're just about settled in, FINALLY!

I completely agree, Caroline, it's a travesty that corporations are so out of control. Grumbling

Sorry, Marilyn - took time off to have a temporary job, but boy, am I glad to over *that* phase!

I lived in Tennessee for a bit over 6 years. There were both good and bad things, but all in all, I'm glad I went and I'm glad to be back!
