I don't know anything about poppies, other than that my pink one seeds, and seedlings come up each year. It doesn't seem to be a perennial. I wonder if this red one would overwinter?

Yes, oriental poppies are supposed to overwinter as far north as zone 3. I'm in zone 7, and I've had my NOT_Beauty_of_Livermere oriental poppies for about 10 years. The foliage naturally dies down in summer, but it always comes back.

Lucy - I'll be honest. I'm not even sure who Sarah Taylor was? The iris originated in 1979. I have a bit I can share with you. My mother-in-law just got a big hunk of it over the weekend.
