I have been working all week to get my projects finished before winter sets in. First thing is I got all my Daylilies planted, I dug up all the fried Hostas. I planted them into a berm for the winter.




Then I purchased some retaining bricks to finish off my perennial garden and finally plant all the plants that have been sitting in pots.

That looks nice Susan and I see you have a nice helper there.

DD is finally yanking out the Forsythias that take up so much room in her garden at the corner of the driveway.

Glorious sight ,at the curb This is the last of 3 huge bushes.
SIL and DD dug them out and used straps,chain and Jeep Loredo to pull them out.


Just think how many more sq.ft. for plants those will leave.

On the other hand I continue to hover over the iris I planted a month ago.Looking for increases,and getting ready to plant monardas and columbines in this spot.

Jo Ann, that is a great new space you all created! That's what I am talking about, you go!


Here is a huge mess I just cleared out, a Black Eyed Susan taking up half of my old perennial bed. I made the new one because the drainage is bad here but I have other stuff that wont mind.

Is it shady or sunny? If even part sun I would say daylilies, but if shady you could do astible and maybe a few Hostas and painted ferns.
I just got a few painted ferns from SRG for 2.49. Great sale @ 80% off. I am planting them in with the Hostas and I have a few Helleborus. Hoping to brighten things up a little.

I'm just trying to finish everything I started this year. It got hot, and everything kind of got put on hold. I did finish something yesterday, not a bad start.

I just moved another hosta out of full sun into a shadier garden.

I moved all mine out of the sun to dappled shade, then I planted daylilies in their place. That was a good project, gotta make more room for daylilies.

We lost a tree last winter and all the plants under it have needed moving. Gingers,FoamFlowers,Astilbes.The lilies stayed
I have been moving plants 3 a day since August. The hosta was th last one.

I'm trying to work my way through my usual fall clean-up: yanking annuals, cutting back perennials, weeding... It's a big job and takes me longer every year. My husband helped me for a few hours on Saturday and we got the biggest flower bed done. I've also done one other island bed, and the border on 3 sides of the house. Two areas left to go.

It sure did get hot fast, I think it caught a lot of people off guard, also the droughts. Very challenging year!

I have some little cast iron gates to position and then some potted clems to put on them. Had to weed the area first, and match irises to the clems, of course.

I will putter in the garden with little projects right up until snow fall.

Here are some pictures from a few other projects, the hostas I dug up from the front beds had to go somewhere. Also my new Iris garden which is already too small. Got two more.
