Ok, I get insanely jealous watching everyone post gorgeous roses already, so I wandered around the front yard & took pictures of some of my roses and how gorgeous they are. I can't wait to see everyone turn green with envy! Oh yea, my yard's lookin' good. Rolling on the floor laughing This is not all of the roses, but the "better looking" ones.

Heh Heh, I have a lot of roses that look like that. My Cardinal Hume, however, stayed green through the winter and is going like gangbusters. No flowers yet, but it and Le Reve are having a competition for "earliest to leaf out and stay leafed out through the yo-yo weather." Actually, Rise 'n' Shine, Cherry Parfait, and Rainbow Sorbet would be on that list, too. Several of roses that arrived with leaves on or roses that leaved out too early are a total wreck. Futura, for example, I'm 99% sure I lost thanks to yo-yo weather.

Like an idiot, I planted my shipment from Rogue Valley Roses as frigid weather blew in. I got half the roses into the ground and gave up because the wind was too cold. The temp dipped into the teens. Froze the bejeezus out of most of the RVR roses that I had planted. Then, two days later I planted the rest. And they are all pretty happy. Some of the RVR roses I planted before the freeze are putting out new growth.

Fun photos.

Gloria - I pulled dead budunion roses on Sunday & took 'em back to Home Depot.. didn't matter if I'd bought them there or not 'cuz I had receipts for like 60+ roses. Looks like I lost only like 15ish roses total throughout the whole yard, which is pretty good considering how many I had put in. I've got the 3 from Edmunds going in today, another 5(?) coming in from Palatine Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! on Friday, and then a whole mess of 'em (15?) from RU this week too (in theory). Oh, and a couple from Burling. So my yard will start getting filled up. Don't have bunny problems.. got dogs so no bunnies. Missing 1 specific rose.. can't find my Firefighter anywhere. Guess I'll have to get another copy of him. Did pick up Sweetness (my first real rose of the season!) on Sunday.

Got a mushy hail storm last night that ended up being that nasty storm that's hitting Arkansas right now :(. But it also frosted pretty heavily, but I don't think it was a killing frost.

Gloria - I understand that! I'm redoing a bed in the front.. it is right now primarly a rock bed (well, mostly bindweed), but I'm ripping out all the rock (probably have to go down about 6" for the entire bed Sad ) and redoing it. That's where I'm putting in a lot of irises & I'll be getting a baby Prariefire Crabapple to put in that spot! Yay!!

oh lordy, how green & beautiful... *sigh* *cries* my yard will never look that good (mainly 'cuz I haven't any grass).

how restful. I could just imagine plopping my big butt on that bench & watching the hummingbirds... how wonderful.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful spot.
