Thanks, Zu. You know what? I bought that trellis last year on sale at Hobby Lobby and wish I'd bought all they had, which was about 3 as I remember. That's one of the sturdiest ones I have. I have a few flimsier ones I've picked up at Big Lots, but nothing like that one.

Angie - That is just GORGEOUS!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! I love Hobby Lobby, I just hate their shopping hours. Some of us are quite busy during the day and usually don't get to shop until 8-9pm.. and being closed on Sundays hurts too.

You're right, Toni, and I happened to hit them just when the spring/summer items were being marked down, so I got this one at a great price. I ought to know by now that when I find something I like, I should buy all they have!

Angie, that certainly is something to celebrate. The plant is lovely and so is the trellis.

GC photographed a little lighter than I would have expected; at first glance I thought it might be Crocus Rose.

Probably the late afternoon light. Here are a couple of her blooms:

Do these look better? They were taken in earlier afternoon.

I'm quite happy with GC this year, the first year she's bloomed out this fully. Her fragrance is delightful as well, something I really cherish in a rose. The only KO rose we have in the garden is one DH bought several years ago on his own. They're quite pretty, but give me delicious scent every time in a rose!

How do you combat black spot? When I grew GC it was completely without leaves from mid June until late August.

No blackspot on my Mom's so it must be a humidity thing?

Steve, I don't think you'll have much trouble with Golden Celebration in Prescott either, it's not much more humid there than it is in Phoenix I don't think???

I've been wanting this rose for some time, but every time I've ordered it (twice), it has turned out to be a mislabeled rose. :((( It sure is a beauty!

I believe you. I've not seen any sign of fungal problems on roses here, except for those that rode in on newly imported roses. But I was curious about how one would control BS on GC in NC.

I've quit trying to fight BS on my roses. I've done the picking off leaves and disposing of them, spreading new mulch, spraying. Nothing works here (for me at least) so I just accept BS in mid summer and wait for cooler weather when my roses start looking presentable again. It's the price I pay for luscious blooms in spring and fall!

Toni, not right now, it's going to be getting to hot to ship to this part of the state here really quick...so I better hold off.
