Yes they do. The succulents Kalanchoe, Crassula ovata, and a lot of the Aloes and some Hoyas are late fall and winter bloomers in the Northern Hemisphere. It's so much fun to see things blooming in the winter here (zone 7). Especially if there is snow on the ground. nodding My Rhipsalis bloom in late winter/early spring here as do some other succulents. Of course, they are all inside or down in the garage over winter.

Haha, that is why I take their photos once I see them in bloom, so I can remind myself later that this particular time of the year they are actively growing and at times blooming. Smiling

Believe it or not, I'm such a plant geek that I have an Excel spreadsheet with all my plants and when they bloom, split up from the 1-15 of the month and 16-30/31.

One of my biggest challenges is having a garden that looks good year round. Now that I'm back in the desert, lots of the plants that look good even out of bloom will help. Thumbs up

I guess we all have our ways that work for us. It's so true that having a garden that looks good all year can be a challenge. I had that challenge in my yard in Nor Cal. I have confidence in you, Sheryl, that you'll have it all figured out fairly quickly. That's what geeks do, after all. nodding

Went out to the garden early evening, and saw the succulent has managed to open much more Hurray! Temperature outside is at 83F I guess, it likes to feel that kind of warmth and more to keep it blooming. In the mornings, when it still is at upper 50's the blooms closes down.

Wow. How cool is that?
I also have a couple Faucaria, But funny, all through summer heats they looked pathetic, then when fall came, I checked the roots, they were all gone...I repotted and now it looks like they're coming back to life.

I agree with your observation fixpix...my faucarias also looked pathetic all summer long..so maybe it is their dormant time and once it begins to feel the fall weather up and down it is time to increase the watering a bit. Trying to remember how it was these past few weeks, a week ago it got cool here then this week it went warmer again, and I remember giving it some more water. Then saw the bloom...will observe the other faucarias I have around if they will follow suit.

If you look closely on the plant with the bloom, the outer leaves seems ready to dry up with yellowish color as well, shows how glum it was during summer, but it still managed to bloom. Oh I hope it is not a death bloom of sorts...how some plants exert one more attempt of a bloom before it eventually dies away. Rolling my eyes.

Just took a photo early this morning, temperature at 53F, Faucaria tuberculosa has closed the petals, waiting for the gradual warm-up before it blooms again:

The last bloom pic is so pretty...

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Tee! Some things I have to kill multiple times before I learn.... but I did finally buy a water gauge!

nodding

Faucarias go dormant after they bloom so the plants may indeed look like they are dying or dead. But most likely, they aren't. IMHO nothing can look as pathetic as some of these succulents when they go dormant. But then they spring back to life and growth and produce those fantastic blooms!

Gotta love 'em. Lovey dubby

A friend of mine is afraid to get near this succulent of ours, says it seems ready to bite him Rolling on the floor laughing due to its jagged, fang-like leaf edges.

It is Dendrobium spectabile, one orchid I have not had the pleasure of killing ... yet.... I'm still working on my Bllra. marfitch "Howard's Dream" and Wilsonara "Golden Afternoon". Neither have bloomed yet, and I think it's been, oh.... two years?

*sigh*
