Whoa! 'Finer Than Wine' is really dark!! That is a great picture too.

I got 'Velvet Ribbons' in a trade with a friend in 2017 and it has been a great addition.

Renown black daylily hybridizer Mr JD. Stadler, aka "Celestial" on the LA, who has been working with black daylilies for over thirty years said that " Black Fury and Midnight In Burgess" are the two blackest daylilies that he has seen. His Midnight Fury that is right up there with them is coming my way this spring.

I just ordered Midnight in Burgess for this Spring. Who knows, it might throw a bloom or two!

My blackest has to be Midnight Oil. This picture is in the afternoon in full sun.



My next darkest is an old NOID that occasionally likes to throw in some extra petal segments.

Almost all of my daylilies are really old varieties. Zoia, I love, love, love yours!

@hawkeye_daddy your NOID may be SWEETEST CHERRY I grew this some years ago, I don't remember where I purchased it, but most likely Wild's, as at that time I ordered from them regularly, and I didn't pay much for anything I had.

The buds on the picture (background) are from Rolling Raven - Night Wings flowers early mid here (for about 4 weeks).
Here you can see both plants - Rolling Raven is quite dark too, flowers a little later and for 5-6 weeks

Here in Europe too - got it from a friend, gave one fan to a friend - that's the way it works here because we do not have daylily nurseries around the corner.
