I go Hermosa this spring and it has not stopped bloomed. What a prolific rose. I have it planted at the feet of its climbing sport, but it definitely out blooms it.

OK @vaporvac That is why that here in hot and humid Houston, TX I am waiting until October for delivery of my 'Hermosa' I have grown many OGR's in
my gardens and I really love the Tea Roses and the China's that I have had I even showed and won a Dowager Queen award with my 'Cramoisi Superieur' Which is a beautiful red china rose.
Right now I only have two and they are 'Gruss an Aachen' and 'Rouletii'
First 'Rouletii'

Thank you again everyone for the congrats and I love the flower pictures and Toby! What a cutie!

Thank you Sulli for your generous offer re: gimbles, etc. I will treemail you in the next few days. Dealing with the never ending issues regarding my Dad's estate and bank mistakes, moving Mom, etc., right now. I did get a DJI OSMO gimble, tripod, etc. I am sorting out some time to try to learn the thing. Haven't succeeded yet (not the time) but hope to in the next week or so and try it out.

Got to scoot. Have DMV appointment this morning that has been cancelled and changed 3 times due to COVID. Also am attending a class from the Smithsonian via zoom on photographing your garden, etc. BTW those classes are free. I have been taking the series that offers a bunch of different topics. Don't want to miss today's. https://gardens.si.edu/events/...

Hey MBN. Thanks for the tip on the Smithsonian classes.
I've signed up for the seminar on understanding plant stress
signals.

Looking forward to it. I want to take an on-line class (actually
a one-time seminar) so that I can sympathetically discuss
what my grandsons are going through.

I'm taking another class (four sessions) plant drawing at the
NY Botanical Garden later in September. (not free!)

That is a really pretty picture of Yantai. My better half and I consider ourselves friends of
Dee Bennett's daughter Sue O'Brien. The pictures of the other roses are all very pretty too.

Massive attack of Blackspot this Spring. The Bacillus preparations seem to work long term but all the girls got systemic too. " Radiant Perfume "
"Lloyd Center Supreme" (twice)

Well we do not have to worry about Black Spot too much here in Houston, TX right now because it is just too hot for it. We usually have problems
with Black Spot in the Spring and Fall when it is cooler. However I have not really seen any bad signs of it on either of my two current rose bushes
"Gruss an Aachen had a bit in the Spring but not now. I have not seen any sign of it on 'Roulletii' my 1810 minature china rose. OGR's seem to handle
it better than the modern roses I have grown.

I have variety of miniature roses, most of which don't excite me. One of the exceptions is Cutie Pie

Thanks all!

Will, I know Sue from the forums. She used to tell stories about how her Mom would breed roses. Loved to hear about the behind the scenes stuff!

Beautiful, Pablo! Never heard of Lloyd Center Supreme but I like it!

Kohala, I had Cutie Pie for a while but it didn't grow well for me. Nice photos!

Blasted gophers killed my beautiful Tamora, one of the first Austins I bought for my present garden about 35 years ago. It had grown to huge proportions and was healthy and thriving just four days ago, when I last watered that bed. By the time I started planting all of the roses in gopher-proof cages about 12 years ago, Tamora was already too big to be dug up and replanted in a cage, so I suppose I should be happy it lasted this long without protection.

Oh, Zuzu, that's a shame! Such a lovely rose. Can you save some cuttings to root?

Will, I haven't seen her on any of the forums lately. She was on facebook but even on that I haven't seen a post from her for a long time now.

Zuzu, that's too bad. Do gophers dig in and chew the roots?
My garden has a lot of rats and they burrow among the roots of the Plane trees
and roses, but I don't think they are root eaters. They're just nasty.

Seil, the whole thing is dried up, so there's no healthy wood for cuttings. Besides, I don't really like own-root roses. They usually don't measure up to their grafted counterparts.

Yes, David. They burrow through the garden and eat the roots (or sometimes the whole plant) of anything that isn't in a cage. After I caged my roses, they started killing all of the irises, abutilons, lavateras, silenes, and even a few camellias. In fact, they seem to like everything but the things I don't want in my garden -- blackberries, ivy, arum, privet, dandelions, etc.
