Do all pictures down loaded to the data base spend even a brief time on recent site images or do they often just go to the data base listing? I look several times a day and it seems like some pictures are there for extended periods of time while I must miss my pictures. Just curious?

I think they are listed until something else comes and bumps it off. Since there is space for only 9 at a time, they sometimes move pretty fast, especially when some of the gals are posting images courtesy of a nursery. Dave will let us know if this is the case.

You should know that I was ooooohhhh-ing over one of your images yesterday of a Gerbera Daisy! Smiling You really have some great shots!

I see that Trish has already answered your query.

I haven't noticed any long waits at all when I upload a photo but I do notice that sometimes there are a lot of Day Lilies, Irises etc. waiting in line and I figured it might take a bit longer for those because of the particular plant. There seem to be thousands of Day Lilies, Irises, Roses etc., and the moderator's for those database entries have to make sure the photo is correctly identified before approving it.

This is true. If there are 30 photos in the moderation queue and an admin or moderator approves them all, then only the 9 most recent show up on the homepage.

However! All is not lost. You can (and I often do) click on "Plant database" up top and from there you will see a bottomless list of the newest images. Smiling

I do click on the plant data base frequently to see recent pictures and also frequently click on the random pictures but it is nice to see fresh faces on the homepage..........

True! I've gotten so tired of seeing Daylilies and Iris I hardly even bother to look at the recent images any more.

I may have to break that up a bit, I feel guilty approving over 200+ daylilies at a time but if I don't, then it really gets backed up when those gals are on a roll adding images for a nursery! Green Grin!
What I do is click through the pages until I get to the non-daylily ones to see what else was added. Once you click the "Continue viewing recent images", then at the top are the page numbers, you can click on any to jump ahead (or back actually).

I enjoy seeing the real variety of colors, color patterns, and forms of the new daylilies and thinking that all these gorgeous flowers came from far plainer ancestors. I do however prefer pictures taken by the the person contributing them. They are often, in my opinion, far better than those provided by a nursery. I also enjoy seeing pictures of a wide variety of plants that I am not familiar with and clicking on to them and learning a little. I'm certain it is hard to please everyone and thanks again, those who make ATP possible.

For the daylily images, most of these nurseries are family run nurseries, often husband and wife, so the images are taken by them and while we invite them to join ATP and upload their images themselves, for most of them, they welcome the help of uploading the photos for them. The bonus is if they also then join and contribute to the forums as well. Thumbs up

My only complaint about all those daylily photos is that they make me drool all over my keyboard.... Whistling
But, rats! I missed Paul's gerbera photo. Love gerberas! Guess I'll have to go troll the database. Hilarious!
