I agree Oooo, I'll bet that would naturalize here. We have the lighter colored blue-eyed grass. Gotta find some of that!

it is gorgeous--
really tiny though, and very difficult to get a decent photo.
I just put some in the DB and here are a few more that I guess I decided to put here???

Other than that really fabulous photo showing very intense colour, I have to say that Sisyrinchium demissum doesn't look a whole lot different than other native blue Sisyrinchium species, and as dirtdorphins says, the flowers are probably a lot smaller than people would imagine from that photo. That said, this genus as a whole is really underused in the garden! It deserves much more attention! These are excellent, if subtle, little garden plants.
I love our native Sisyrinchium montanum and let it self-seed as it likes. I find it hard to photograph (I try and try but delete most photos of it) - I wish I had dirtdorphin's photography skills! Here's the best I've got of S. montanum in the garden, though these don't represent the best plants (nor do they capture the colour), which can be a beautiful, dense spray of wiry stems with small blue flowers:

Love blue-eyed grass. I use the cultivar 'Lucerne' - tried the straight species, but it was a bit too spread-y. Lucerne behaves itself. It's one of my favorite border plants. I agree it is difficult to get a good photo of these. In all the times I've tried, only got a couple that turned out.

That's a great plant and photo, foraygardengirl! 'Lucerne' is a selection of Sisyrinchium angustifolium - very nice.

The flowers open mid-day and close again. Sometimes you just have to be there at the right time...
