Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing might not have been so bad, sleeping with the flowers!

We have gone twice so far but I have a membership to Hidden Lake Gardens in MI. and they have reciprocal agreement with lots of places and Calloway is one so we're hoping to go see the azaleas this year. It's a beautiful place! And so close to me!!! What are you doing going there from Wisconsin? That's a LONG trip!

I am going to have to keep an eye out at Lowes for some. They are perfect trays! I know we don't get a lot of snow here but we still have mud so you'd think they would sell them down here. Of course I keep forgetting to look whenever I go to Lowes!

Here's some more information on those trays. They're put out by Mohawk Home Division. They're called a utility tray on the label. The Mohawk item # and Lowes product # are the same: Item # 357394 and color I got was grey #579. The approximate dimensions are 29.2" X 14.5". They also come in black. I see there a stock item on Lowes website at regular price of $4.99, of course. Jot down the stock number and keep it in the car so the next time your down in Newnan, check it out. They might be on seasonal closeout there too. They are really high quality and I use mine a lot. They fit nicely on the shelves in my greenhouse and this year the cold has held on so long up here that I was forced inside to mix up my 'custom blend' of potting mix and they sure saved me from a mess, "and that's for a fact", as they would say in Columbus--my wife's home town.

Do you raise any lilies (lilium)? I suppose Iris are about ready to bloom by you.

Rick, I am not, BUT, WOW, that is a great arrangement. Nice color and texture. I will have to reconsider. Not that I was against, just never thought about the possibilities!

Ah hah! cement mixing tub, a great idea, and I have one hanging around somewhere.

Lorn, I do have lilies, but I don't really know much about them, just that I like them, they multiply fairly quickly and they make a great cut flower! Hilarious! I have some of the white trumpets (Easter Lily), some orange (there's where I'm lacking, I have no idea what kind they are, but they ARE NOT daylilies, and I have a few Asiatics, like Star Gazer and some black one...

I took a peek at the lily forum and got very intimidated! Hilarious!

Lorn, I did write it down. I have an old boot tray but it's not rectangle, it has a slight curve and I'm pretty sure I paid well over $10 for it so I'll see what I can find in Newnan. Thanks for going the xtra mile for the info!

Lorn, thank you. I figured it would be easy to love them, they are beautiful flowers. I take it you are very "into" them?

When I have a bit more time I will look a bit more at the lily forum. Right now, I took a peek and it's way over my head. Rolling on the floor laughing I just want to plant them because they are pretty.

Okay, I do want to know which ones are which, but I really don't want to look stupid. I may do some research first, then dip my toes in the water... Thumbs up

Hi Arlene! Please do dip your toes in the water! If you want to pick up a few now is the time to do it. In another month they will be sprouted in their bags and the bulbs will then be subpar but the stores will sell them to you anyway.

Just like on the semp forum we have people here who are ordinary gardeners who buy from local stores and others who prefer buying from the hybridizers and growers. Lilies aren't fussy but they do need good drainage and at least a half day of sun. They are easy to plant, especially the Moby way (Moby is a member here): Dig a hole, stick it in, cover it up. I'll add place a marker so you know where it is!

When summer comes and blooms burst it will get busy here! I hope you will join us. Ask any questions. We aren't quite as crazy as those semp folks but we do get silly at times nodding .

OMG! I forgot I WAS posting on the lily forum!!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Talk about feeling STUPID Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I would say what I have read so far was very PASSIONATE!

I do know now is the time to get them, but this year I have to go with the ones I already have (of course if passing by the summer bulbs at say, Lowes, and one just happens to jump into my cart, what's a person to do?) I did get some late summer last year and I KNEW they were subpar but they were CHEAP and I wanted more so I figured I'd give it a shot. Some made it...I think even a Star Gazer, but I will have to wait until they blossom to know for sure.

I will come back for a visit tomorrow perhaps and see if I can find the pictures of what I have so maybe someone can tell me what type they are. I know the difference between daylilies and I know Trumpet, but not so sure about Asiatic and the orange ones I have. Or if there are even MORE!

Maybe I'll change my name for tomorrow though... Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

And there are people of all stages of knowledge here. Yes, you might want to gloss over some of the "deep" threads, like the current one on lighting. I am sure you are not alone!
Just ignore those. There is nothing wrong with that! Thumbs up

Arlene, welcome, welcome. Welcome!

We don't want to give the impression that this forum is just for experts, although we have some great experts on here.

In fact, I would love to have some more new to lilies people.

So, if any questions you have, just start a thread, and I guarantee there will be lots of talk on it.

And just wait until you see some of the pictures!

Is your pic your daughter? Pretty little one!

You'll have to speak Chinese or Japanese to them, Tracey. Unless they hobnob with the American species, they're likely not bilingual. Hilarious!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!

Polly, the photo is my granddaughter. I have been introducing her to flowers since a wee one. She loves them, and so does my daughter.

I was working in my garden today (I do market gardening so it's a BIG garden) and I saw lilies peeking through. On checking my paperwork, I see StarGazer is an Oriental lily and Black out is an Asiatic lily. Are callas considered a lily also? I also have some other pink/burgandy ones from a neighbor and lots of white trumpet from my mother as well as some orange ones that I don't know what category they are and I cannot seem to find any photos right now. Probably burned to a cd somewhere. Very similar to Stargazer in shape, just all orange.

Half of my garden is veggies and the other half is FLOWERS! I have a lot of perennials and have been slowly building up my lily collection. I have been hesitant to get more because I concentrate the majority of my flowers on what will make good cut flowers. I have heard lilies make great cut flowers, but I have also heard you'll ruin them if you cut them Shrug!

Anything that I like but really doesn't make a good cut flower goes into the beds at my house (farm garden is at my son's).
