Anna, we're a day behind you in the weather. It's foggy here today and I have a doc appt. that has me crossing the lake bridge. maybe it will clear some in the next hour. lol, porkpal, around here, if they are wrong, that just means it worse than they said it was going to be!

Stan is feeling too good. He took three weaned calves up to our daughter's and traded them for a couple of big, not bred, heifers. I helped him load the calves in the trailer and his brother helped him switch them around. Now they are out putting them in stalls. I'd swear, but it wouldn't do any good. I am quite confused as to the whole cow thing at this point. O well, at least he hasn't tried to milk them yet. You will hear the howl from here if he does!

We have 5 inches of new snow on top of ice from the last partial meltdown. The UPS driver had to chain up to get out of here last evening. They do the town deliveries first, then the rural routes, so in the winter it is always dark when they arrive. Hubby chained up the 4WD tractor and plowed/blew snow to clear the driveway today. He blows in some places, plows in others. The temperature has warmed to 36, so we have a bit of melting. More snow in the forecast. We need it.

Anna and Kathleen, I hope your roads are in good shape for your travels.

Kathleen, 3 calves for 2 grown heifers sounds like a good deal. I hope they turn out to be good ones. Otherwise not such a good deal. I hope your milking crew keeps Stan out of it. Wives don't have a whole lot of influence. I hope his doctor has more.

Two loaves of banana bread are in the oven, smelling very good.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

We've been having really strong wind for the past few days which has brought down more of the drought-killed trees. I actually called out a tree service to take care of two of them that had fallen together from opposite sides of a fence. They managed to separate them from their embrace without destroying the fence - something I didn't think I could do. We now have enough firewood to last for several winters - if we ever have any more real winters. Well, after several days of 80 degrees, it is supposed to drop into the 30s tonight but will be back to near 70 tomorrow. This is my kind of winter!
