Good luck on your Alabama peonies, Liz. I can't wait to see the pix.

I hope you will be able to save your Rhododendron, Jasmin.

Are there local Agricultural Extension Offices, where any possible problem may be tested for, as a similar equivalent to what we have here, in the U.S. ?
I know, once I'd figured out what had happened to that expensive (though much younger,) blue replacement Rhododendron, I was very upset.

I hope it isn't the same thing Jasmin. As I do tend to worry, too much !

I dumped out my compost bin, and harvested the worm/dirt/clay compost, not all worm casting. I then fertilized my young tomato plants with this stuff. But today it was windy, I'm near the sea, the sea breeze blew the Command Performance peony flower bud, I hope I saved it. Keep my fingers crossed.

I'm going to have a look at some, out back, to see if any signs of some new growth. At lest it isn't windy, though a bit overcast.
Some sun, is better than none.

I removed some of the snap dragons, put them in container with the rest, if they survive, great, but I planted the seeds that started from scratch, they are either blue Penstemon or Columbine blue star. Pretty soon, I will go through the thinning process. See which ones are still there, maybe in a month.

It was nice to work in garden today, weather was really cooperating. Hopefully we wont have deep freezes in April and May, but who knows?

Pulled out my potted peonies from cold storage and moved some soil from the top of the pot where I placed grafted tree peonies last year. At least one is coming up. I wanted to separate them ( 5 or 6 in the pot ), but I guess it has to wait until the fall now. Will put it in a bigger pot as is. Just afraid that it will be too dry or hot in the smaller one for those grafts, but it is too late to separate.

That sounds very interesting, Alex. It will be fun to see how they do for you this year.

I did some more garden clean up as it was sunny and warm, but so windy I wore my earmuffs!😂

I cleaned a bit. Also brought the mums, violas, and other plants from the porch outside. Hope there will not be frost tonight.

Alex, which peonies have you grafted? Congratulations! That's exciting Thumbs up

It was Yachio Tsubaki, Jasmin. I hope there are more than one, but I was not happy about scions at that time, so even it is only one out of 5 it is ok. First experience. See how it goes. Probably too fragile to do anything with them right now.

I had a very productive garden weekend, our weather was beautiful. I did a ton of weeding, I'm experiencing an onion grass invasion that can only be described as biblical. I think I got about a million bulblets dug yesterday.

The rest of the weeds feel manageable and I got the peonies and roses fertilized and ready to go and now I'm ready to start cutting down winter debris and get some plants in the ground. I also got three veggie beds cleaned out, refreshed with compost and planted with beets, broccoli and some greens I started inside due to our cold start to March and got the carrots sowed. And cleaned up my strawberry planters. Ok, looking at that list it's a lot, no wonder I feel like I might fall asleep immediately. Time to get back in gardening shape!

I sowed 3 honey dew melon seeds in the ground, I covered them too, no more seeds in the pots, them birds are after them. It's warm enough I think it should sprout in 7-10 days.
This is Caroline Constabel from my glass window, it's not as sharp, but I like the form and the color.

Sulli, I watched your video on YouTube, and felt so sorry for you with all those onion bulbs!! You are doing the right thing in getting them out. I had no idea that the cardboard smothering technique wouldn't kill them!!

It's so nice to have a stretch of warm days to get things done.

Can't wait to see your blooms this year.

aw thanks LG, I was very surprised they weren't smothered too. It wasn't so bad to dig up the clump and pull them from the bottom but it's a lot. I'm taking a break till we get more rain again on Wed. which makes it a lot easier. I really did get through some of the worst spots with a lot of effort. Lots of time to listen to audio books lol!

I planted one zucchini squash and 3 melon seedlings.
Then I had to stake Valkyrie, it seems like these big flowers will fall down if they are not supported.

I planted my Hosta roots and other roots from Holland bulb farms. I'm going to call them next week about some less than desirable roots. I will see if I get a credit of some sort.

@SulliO, what's your video about? Can I have the link?

You all have done so much! I am so bogged down with weeds! I haven't planted anything yet! Still need to fertilize the peonies. I found a source for organic chicken manure. I am so excited! Can't wait to get it to add it to my roses. SoCal, you said that your roses thrive and bloom because of chicken manure. I hope it will do the same for mine.

Karen, members of the roses forum have discussed this, I just implemented what I've read. I hope your roses will do well.
