Nothing happening in garden here as there is fresh snow overnight.
I am anxious to get going ! Bottom of frig has lily bulbs and other roots. Garage has coolers full of peat and peony roots.
Bought some hardware cloth to try and protect the bulbs from voles.
Hoping to rid the yard of them too!

Very interesting, Oscar! I hope you will pinch the herbaceous growth off. I just pulled two herbaceous stems from a woody peony. There is no woody growth above the ground yet.

Good luck on the hardware cloth to protect your bulbs Caroline!

It's raining today, so I will not work in the garden. I bought two pots of hyacinths yesterday, pastel pink and pastel yellow. I want to mix them with white hyacinths in the herbaceous peonies on the terrace. The idea is to have whites and pastels that glow in the dark, so that I can see them late at night through the window and patio door.

Approximately every hour, I go out to see how my tree peonies are growing. They're all growing now, even the newly grafted Yachiyo Tsubaki that I got from Alex has started leafing out Smiling The tree peony seedlings and new additions are still fragile Blinking I can't wait to see them established and out of the woods!

I noticed one more little thing, possibly a peony seedling. I don't understand what it might be. The little leaf is green and a bit shiny. It doesn't look like something growing from a root of a herbaceous peony because there was no hood (or that bullet phase). The little leaf just showed up two days ago. All my tree peony seedlings are still reddish and not shiny. What can that be? Confused

I love hyacinths, Jasmin! I am the same way…. Walking around to see what has emerged and if there are buds.

I have some little seedlings popping up too. I guess I will wait until Fall to move them.

I hope your weather will stay nice going forward. I have pinched off so many frozen buds this Spring.
