I can't get the pic rotated correctly! But you can see why I don't need more seeds! And I still have a tin full for spring sowing!

Today I put out 10 seeds of Mixed Hibiscus Luna after soaking and TRYING to knick them. They're a little too small for my arthritic hands and I'm happy to say that I gave up after the first cut.

I had a couple of Cherry Brandy come back for me last year (surprised the heck out of me, too!), and although they were a bit smaller, they looked great! Hey, Karen, maybe they just like me better? Hilarious!

I actually bought a Cherry Brandy plant one year and it didn't come back. Guess they don't like me either.

No doubt. I suspect you're a better plant mom. Fortunately I was much better at raising a human.

I think mine was just a fluke of the weather. Everyone else says the same thing about them, that they're best treated as annuals. But I just can't resist teasing Karen. Hilarious!

I liked Cherry Brandy better the second year. It had more blooms.

My favorite so far is Prairie Sun. It winter sowed well, bloomed the first year, and has returned as nicely or better yet in the (I think two) years since.

I'm off to change the water in the fish tanks...I need more empty water jugs!

I had one sprout of Tennessee Coneflower (Echinacea tennesseensis) last year. It sat there for several weeks, and then died. That's the extent of my very limited experience, so far.

I think I'll try White Swan outside, and Pow Wow Berry and Tomato Soup inside. I really do want some of these to make it.

I've wintersown echinacea several times, with pretty good results. Not all seeds germinated, but enough to satisfy me. And those that did sprout grew into nice healthy plants.

Chelle, Prarie Sun is my all time favorite rud hirta, too. After many years of saving my own seeds though, they had crossed pollinated with others and didn't look much like the original anymore. I bought a fresh pack of commercial seeds this year and wintersowed them.

Has anyone tried Impatiens balfourii? I only had 15 seeds total, so I winter sowed 5. I'm wondering if this is a good bet, or if I should start some indoors as well. (??)
From what I've read they like to grow cooler, so getting as early of a start as possible might be best. Shrug!

I haven't tried them, Chelle. But they're supposed to reseed, which would indicate a likely candidate for WSing.
