When I dig large quantities of Iris for donation or rehoming, they often get piled in this area. Thinking maybe a nubbin of one dug itself in. Going to move it and see what it is...and if I want to keep it after I know.

Cheerful Chipmunk SDB (M. Sutton) Love this Iris.



Florist Gold. As Irises, the two blooms are too cozy. However, looking at it with imagination (and slightly squinty eyes) it is pretty good as an orchid corsage...



Troublemaker SDB (L. Baumunk). First year bloom, and pretty tough to have stood up to the overnight hard rains.



Early Scout Peony. Such a surprise to see this one flowering when I only planted it last year.



Takara Itoh Peony. Buds at ground level? Wild.

i took this picture today, of 'yonkers' an intermediate, in the light rain we've been experiencing all day.



. in this pic, i see all the weeding that needs tending. 'y' is in the front garden and is in the last area of the bed. i'm still working on the very bottom area. with the rain, wind and cold, it will be a few days until i can pick up where i left off.

Debra: The markings on Bleached Blond are very pretty.

haha elsa, i cropped most of the "weeds" out of the picture. it's some kind of coarse invasive rhizomatic grass. ( but some of the grass is creeping in on the right side of the pic.

you're welcome evelyn. my blooms a few and far between this year. it looks as tho' debra's weather is a lot warmer than we are experiencing..

We are warm, Daphne, which is a relief after the 6-straight-days-below-freezing week in February.

My bloom season is just starting. Found a spike on 'Pirate's Den' (supposedly, first time flowering) and 'Hemstitched.' Still at least a week out from blooming, probably closer to two.

Debra: WOW!!! Sparks Fly is beautiful but I am obsessed with your Dumbledore pic. I have had Dumbledore for 3 or 4 years and it never blooms and barely grows. . Maybe I need to move it. Anyway just beautiful!!!

Dumbledore didn't like us either, but does fine for my daughter in Northern Ohio.

Elsa, I've had it for two years and, given the location here, I am surprised to see mine bloom so soon. I agree with you that moving it is a good option.
