It's a hummingbird, but when I got close it turned around. Here are more shots of the same bird.

First hummingbird nest is now being built on the patio in the same spot as last years. I had removed the old nest. It is right by the window so I get a great view of each step in the construction. Smiling

Well Sue, that is a pretty hummer, looks like it has red and green iridescence feathers.

Linda how fun to watch. I don't think they nest here in my area, just hang out for a bit.

I took this picture just a little while ago. The nest is mostly finished. It is in the V area of wood at the top of that tree branch I have on the patio. It sits behind a fountain and gives the area a more outdoor look. As you can see the feeder to the right is really close to Mom. She knows a good thing when she sees it. Hilarious! Just hope I do not have a repeat this year with that male constantly going after her on the patio. Crying

Linda - what a great set up for your female hummingbird and for you to observe. Tell me again what species of hummer your bird is, please? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ceci - you sure have some wonderful birds in your country! ❤️

Linda if I was a hummingbird I'd make a nest on your beautiful patio too. Really neat for them to return and watch again. I agree with Becky, you have quite an array of hummers there, an impressive amount really.

Ceci, that is a beauty, love the sun lighting up those feathers. Lovey dubby

Beautiful porch, Linda. How lucky you are to have Hummers around all the time. We only see them here in the summer.

First little male hummingbird sighting for the year this morning. Lovey dubby It was a Ruby-throated hummingbird of course, since that's about all I see here.

Linda - I know! You truly are living in a wonderful part of the US to see various hummingbird species all year round! I only see them during migration and it is usually just the one species that I see here on the east coast of Florida.

What natural disasters do you get in Arizona? We have hurricanes, as everyone knows. And scorching summers with high humidity (the most challenging kind of heat for me).

You may not know when they show up unless you are ready for them. The sooner you have fed some the better chance of them visiting your feeder all summer. You must simply play the odds.
