My first hosta! I am not sure what type it is, but I still love it! It has extremely blue leaves from the powdery stuff, and has cream variegation.

I saw two of my early risers peeking out yesterday! Wolverine and Longissima always come up too early and get nipped by a frost.

Looks great Alex. Thumbs up Did you purchase it in the pot that it is currently in? There might be a name printed on the side of the pot.

I'll be cleaning out my shade garden this weekend. It's been rainy for the last couple of days. I'm sure my hostas have already woken up. I just can't tell with the millions of pin oak leaves laying on the ground.
Not only people give others signs, but plants do too.

@sonoveshakespeare

No, it came in an nursery pot labeled as "Hosta".

Watch to see if the yellow margin becomes white in a few weeks. Might be 'First Frost'. But I'm just guessing as it's hard to tell how large it is from the photo. I would suggest that you take regular pictures of it and note how many vein pairs. Also keep track of when it blooms and what the flowers look like. Many hostas change colour after they emerge from what they were very early in the season. Also, if you've just bought it, it might look quite a lot different when it emerges in your garden next year.

Here is my first, I planted very quickly tonight, but I thought it does look nice next to Clematis Rhapsody, so they are planted next to each other. The rest I have to see what I've ordered.

My second Hosta emerging is Lakeside Paisley Print, I thought it has yellow, but it has white in the middle, will it becoming more yellow or did they send me a wrong one, I mean I like the white and deep green too. I just want to know where to place it.

The early season growth will be yellow and change to white as the season progresses.

Thanks Rj, if it's more white than yellow, I'm trying to see if I should plant it with the white astilbes, kind of like color echoes. I love this Hosta already. I need to clean this area before I can plant it, otherwise the baby tears will take over.
