That's true, but I'm not ordering them this year. I'm done this year.

Looks good SoCal, heads up Fried Banana will quickly outgrow that spot, they get fairly large.

bluegrassmom said:Wow, those are inspiring beds! What is the little hosta that is in front? It looks like it is used for a border.

That's 'Kifukurin Ko Mame'. Makes a GREAT border, but I've had it a long time. It might be difficult to find these days. I assume you are in the USA? If you were in Canada, I could send you some, but not across the border.
Here's a closer picture of it. I've got it in 4 places.

SoCal - how do you winter your hostas in southern California? They need 40 days of below 40 F temps in their dormant period.

Larry - I'd like to see a picture of that hosta when it's fully unfurled. Early season pictures can be misleading as many hostas change a lot in the first few weeks each year. But it might be 'Undulata Albomarginata'. The pics show my largest one at the end of May last year and blooming in mid-July. That's in a Zone 5a.

Ann, I just cut them down, they go dormant.

Here is a picture of Bobcat Hosta, I accidentally covered it with my compost yesterday, I hope it will survive.

Yes Ann,
I live in Kentucky. I would take you up on that offer. I like the look of using it as a border.

Teresa - I hope you are able to source it in the USA. Someone, somewhere probably has it and could spare a piece if you can't find it in a nursery. It's a wonderful little hosta. 'Kinbotan' which I also have is similar but the leaves aren't wavy. It would likely work as well. And I have another large border of 'Lemon Frost'. Any of the 'Lemon Lime' family of hostas would work well as a border. That includes 'Lemon Frost' and it's sports:
-> Iced Lemon (yw)
-> Inky Dinky (wg)
-> Lemon Delight (gy)
-> Lemon Frost (yw)
-> Lemon Sorbet (yw)
-> Lime Meringue (gw)
-> Twist of Lime (yg) -> Twist of Green (gg)

This picture is my 'Lemon Frost' border.

And this is 'Kinbotan' which is similar to KKM.

That's great news. I bought mine over 20 years ago; so I wouldn't have been a bit surprised if you couldn't get it now.

This is the one I have for several years, but not sure of the name. I planted 2 in the front side alley, one was munched by the snails, it's slowly recovering.

SoCal - I don't think you have a 'First Frost' there. This is what mine looks like at emergence. May 12

Thanks Ann, I figured what they sent me was probably not correct anyway. It doesn't look like the picture.
