I think I will still try a small number (like a lottery ticket). I have access to fume hoods and chemical waste decontamination, and am cleared and trained in handling chemicals. Plus I do not have a specific phenotype to screen for. I just wanna see what might happen. For fun.

So could someone tell me concerning Zollo Omega how long (years) would it take until a good cross is able to be offered for sale. Or any Daylily for that matter that is hybridized with the intention of selling the offspring? Thanks

Gary here in pa it will take at least 2 years for a seedling to bloom from seed. Then depending on how fast it increases if you are letting it increase naturally it will take about 5 years to be able to divide. Then you would divide the entire plant into single fans and maybe wait another 5 years before you had a reasonable amount to sell. It can be faster in southern states or if you had a fully heated greenhouse. But for hardiness the seedling needs to be tested for cold tolerance. I figure that's pretty minimum

Getting a good flower is so much easier than a good plant. My guess is it goes faster once you get experience working with certain plants and stick to them as a parent.

I got some Undefinable seeds. What do you not like about that plant? I will probably only see photos of it.

Mine just would not grow. Had one spot. I think since all blooms are all different you just dont know until you get it. I didnt try the kid.
