Larry I have fallen in love with the photo of Eranthis hyemalis, a new plant to me. Do you have a link for a source of this plant? I would love to get some and put in my woodland.

Winter aconite is a fall-planted bulb. Some sources say it's hardy to zone 7, others to zone 9. I'd say go ahead and give it a shot. I originally got my eranthis from Brent and Becky's Bulbs (https://store.brentandbeckysbu...). Their fall catalog won't be out until later in the year.

Colorblends, a very reliable mail order wholesale nursery, usually has them for sale as well (http://www.colorblends.com/Aco...) but, as with Brent and Becky's, their fall catalog will appear later in the year.

If you decide to go ahead and plant some this fall, please let me know how they do for you.

Lynn, yes they do winter over in our gardens. They seem to like a fairly dry site.

Evan, thanks for the compliment. I'll continue to write articles now and then, and I'll keep trying to expand horizons. At the moment I'm working on three books, so I've got a lot on my plate. Aside from that, I just turned 72 today. When you're my age and still have your health, it's a real blessing. It causes me to pause occasionally and ask myself what it is that I haven't done yet and would still like to do. Today's answer is to engage in more art projects--that and to finally do those remodeling projects that I've been putting off for several years now.
