I don't have many roses blooming yet. Lots of buds everywhere (I think I got the aphids under control so I won't lose that many hopefully!) but hardly anything is blooming yet.

yes, but not the cool coral-smokiness. All I see is a smoky pink. This picture really doesn't do the rose justice. I just can't seem to get the camera to capture it. I'll try a different camera tomorrow (have to charge the battery on my old Kodak Z612.)

This past weekend was murder, literally, to some of my roses. I lost at least 3 due to the extreme heat (90+, they all got cooked). I water every day in the morning before 9am, but sometimes that's just not enough. Plus the incredible heat (almost broke all-time records these past few days.. today's wonderfully comfortable) has changed the color of some of my roses.

Lagerfeld in the backyard is finally giving me a bud. SOOO small, and very red for such a light colored rose.

I had thought for sure I had lost this rose. And now it's giving me a bud!! Which is wonderful because I was despairing that I couldn't find this rose anywhere in town again and didn't want to have to order it.

Here's my Singing the Blues. It's one of two in my "pond area" (as soon as I finish planting and getting the ponds running, I'll post pictures of that area). This has been the most resilient rose.

I thought this was kind of unusual. This is one of two Stainless Steels and they had a really rough transplant. They're (two roses, same pond area) bouncing back, though. I *really* need to go & prune everyone in the back!! Maybe tomorrow evening...

Anyways, I've seen lots of new leaves coming in on all my roses, but none quite this red.

One of my trees that I planted last year is blossoming! Yay! I planted 8 trees but 4 didn't make the winter (this winter had two of the driest months on record, Nov & Dec, and it was too cold to winter water, so thousands of trees in the metro got either 100% killed or had so much winter kill on their tops that it wasn't worth trying to salvage the tree (that's what happened to 3 of my trees.. the tree died but the roots started to send out suckers at the bottom). This tree, however, which I felt was the most fragile & least likely to live (I haven't seen any of these trees anywhere in the metro) survived!

This is a Golden Chain tree. It has more blossoms that are not open yet.

Now as I mosey to the front yard, what do I spy? Well, it's not a frog-enhanced, but it was at least enhanced :)

I just bought a "Rosa Banksia" from Home Depot for $6.. and the thing is like 5' tall! Not really sure as to which Banksia it is.. any idea? I checked HMF, but none of them show a pink powder puff one. Nice smell, too!

I know that this isn't a rose, but I love things that don't require a lot of work and this Grape Spiderwort fits the bill!

None of my big roses in the front are blooming, but Paradise has finally given me the Green Light (or red bud, whichever comes first).

One of my red NOID miniatures from Walmart or Home Depot... can't remember. This one has small blooms, but the bush gets to be about 2' across.

This one has a mild scent and I believe it to be more of a florist style rose as it sends out these long, thornless canes and the rose holds it's color/shape for EVER. Last year, it mingled with my yellow mums GORGEOUSLY. Again, a NOID :(
