Thanks to Zuzu's encouragement, we can post our rose photos from previous seasons. So... welcome to the garden. Here's Joseph's Coat growing up the left side of the arbor, and Berries 'n Cream on the right, with Bouquet Parfait peeking in from the other side.

Amber Queen is a reliable performer.

A closer view, after a summer rain. In my opinion that's one of the best times to photograph roses -- not because of the water drops, but because of the light.

Here's Buff Beauty, a hybrid musk which has done quite well for many others, but hasn't been a very consistent performer for me.

Chicago Peace is a beautiful sport of Peace.

Christopher Marlowe is known for its unique shade of color that has always defied description for me. Not just a deep pink, there's usually some salmon overtones mixed in with it, but that's not quite right, either.

This is Disneyland. It performed really well on its own roots for the first two years, but never did grow as tall as it should have. Then it went through a gradual demise, and has since been replaced with a grafted version. I used to think own-root roses were preferable to grafted, but Zuzu set me straight on that score. Sometimes they're better, but sometimes they're not. Like so many other aspects of rose horticulture, it all depends.

This is English Garden. It reliably resembles a dahlia. (I have Ralph Moore's Dahlia Rose, but don't think I've photographed it yet. I'll have to photograph it this spring and put images of these two side-by-side for a comparison of form.)

Gemini is a beautiful hybrid tea.

This is Golden Celebration - an enormous plant, and one that is rather more susceptible to black spot in my garden.

Golden Unicorn is pretty unique. It starts out with this very light apricot color, then fades to white.
