I love that Higgy Bear.

Yes, that is Passionate Kisses up there.

I just love Marriotta. What a perfect rose!

I just posted these photos in another place to illustrate Murphy's Law, but I'll post them here too now that you've posted your Flower Girl standard. A garden club was scheduled to come tour my garden on the 19th. All of the roses were behaving beautifully, blooming like crazy, especially the Flower Girl standard. On the 17th we had one of those freak California rainfalls that continues for about 24 hours. The combination of the relentless rain and the plethora of blooms at the top of the tree rose snapped the tree in half on the morning of the 18th, the day before the tour. It was a 60-inch standard, which no one sells anymore, and it was the centerpiece of a big rose bed in front of my house. Here's the top half of the tree, standing in a bucket of water.

Here's where that mass of blooms should have been. The white arrow shows the spot on the trunk where the tree snapped in half. The centerpiece of that bed on the day of the tour was half a rose tree trunk and that useless support stick. So annoying! It also rained again on the day of the tour, so the poor garden club members spent less than an hour here, looking at soggy roses and trying to avoid branches hanging far too low because of all the rain on them.

Gosh zuzu I think I would cry if that happened to my flower girl. I can't believe she just snapped like that. do you think you can root the top is that why it is soaking?

All that rain, wow we have not had rain all month. I already have been watering like crazy. Im sure I would be excited to see your garden rain or shine....

Steph, WOW! what a great show.
Mariotta has such interesting flowers. And it was great to learn where to buy Imperatrice Farah.

Moonlight and Roses looks like Paradise except ... better. Paradise loses shape quickly, but M&R seems to look better in later stages. Does it smell good?

Bees Kees... Never knew a yellow rose that could make wall-to-wall flowers like that.

Keep the photos of Mr Higgins coming. That's a dog who looks very kindly, a little grumpy, loyal, and quite unflappable.

No, I'm not planning to root the top, Steph. I left it soaking just so that the garden club ladies could see what was supposed to be in the middle of that bed.

i love the standard!. i saw one of tiddly winks at a local nursery and begged for them to sell it to me.. they were the owners mothers and she stored them in the greenhouse.. im the customer that wanders off into un populated greenhouses looking for forgotten plants. they were in the fern house what got me in there was a ginormus hibiscus. you dont see them that big around here.. any way i left disappointed even though i had gotten everything i went for and then some.

i love your photos .. and now i feel like i have to go dig up more grass.. why do i even bother trying to say im done..
