It is S. 'Chrysanthemum'. A new one for me. I am starting to fall in love with it.

Thanks Patty; let's see how long it can last? The length, not the grey.

Kate how amazing!!! Thanks for taking so many photos! It shows the variety! You did very well with the seed you got!
I am for sure going to collect seed, from my semps and see what happens! I tip my hat to you.

Seeing all these seedlings, i wanna also try seeds.
But of course I'd like to know this first, before buying seeds

1. can they be sown now... or say in a few weeks (time to buy, receive them, organize)

2. is there a chance to find some cool ones in a MIX? Most seeds I find are "mix" ... I don't want to just get a bunch of the common ones I already have

Calin, I'm not sure about sowing now but maybe sme of the others will have better advice for you. I started mine indoors in Febuary. They need to be kept moist untill the seedlings start to grow, so maybe placing your seed tray them in a bag or propagator would stop them drying out, but I'm not sure if it might be a bit too hot for them now? I'm not sure maybe others with more experience will have better advice for you.
Mine all came from a a packet of mixed bought very cheaply on Ebay. I think it's just luck of the draw what you get.
This is the seller I got mine from and I've got a nice mix of different colours and forms http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Semp...

Thanks Kate.
Yup, I got two packets from two different sellers in the UK. Off ebay, of course.
I hope I get them soon so I can sow them. I will do it on my balcony in my apt.
On the north. Not really hot (well, not yet).
We'll see.

I just don't understand how yours are so colourful this early on, and they're tiny! Mine are massive and just plain old green, even though the packet said 'mixed' and the photo on the packet had lots of reds/purples.... I also paid 0.99p on Ebay for them, I am really disappointed with their colours.... Sad

Pia, Is each of your semps similar/exact in shape and form? If so, then maybe they are of one kind. But if they differ in shape and form, they may be "mixed" of different kind and their color hasn't shown up yet. I know our climates are different but a lot of my semps in the bed are starting to be all green, but when it was winter-spring, the colors were more pronounced and my semps were more mature than yours.

Pia I am seeing some differences. I see a pink blush at the base of NOID 7 & 8.
And 6 has really nice heavy dark tipped leaves.
I think when they get more sunshine you will see more color come out in them.

I agree but I do think its a "luck of the draw" and most of yours look like the old fashioned green type! Have you been keeping them in full sun Pia? Like Lynn said, that will help a bit, but Kate even has cilia on some of hers, and I don't know that this is impacted by sun?? I'd say try again in the fall! Who knows there may be several of us motivating one another to try it (again, or first timers!) nodding

Pia mine are out in full sun most of the day, how much sun do yours get? Mine appear to be more fuzzy because they are so small and I have to really zoom in with the camera, to the naked eye most look pretty smooth. If you decide to try again why not buy from the same seller I did (link a few posts up) maybe you'll get more variety. I do like your green semps though, sometimes its nice to see a contrasting green when most of the semps in the pot are all red in spring.

I see definite differences in the Pia's semps - colored tips or not, leaf shape, etc.

I think that once the semps experience cooler temperatures there will be more color variation.

In my experience, a lot of semps go green when they get less light and the temperatures are high.

Cool temps bring out color.
