Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! The False Freesia, Anomatheca laxa is coming up! My helper noticed it today! I really didn't expect them to germinate because the seeds were 4 years old! I count 5 they are kind of hard to see so look to the left of the yellow dots. It's in the same container as the Cobra Lily.

That sounds even easier than the chicken boxes. Maybe I'll try that next year. This year I started most things inside.

Take heart, Allison. At this time of year, at least it can't last too long.

Our weather has been pretty cold. No sprouts here.
But it was 66° here yesterday. Currently 46°. And a chance of snow tomorrow night. Hilarious!

Arlene, those first wintersown sprouts are fun. I don't think any of us think it will work, until we see proof.

at first I had a hard time leaving them alone Hilarious! I do a lot of seeds inside under lights and I'm checking them every day, sometimes more than once a day to see if anything has germinated! When the weather was nice I would check on the WS containers but then I got so busy with my other seedlings, potting up, sowing more, I forgot about the WS containers. It's so easy. I think I will try more next year.

The first time I winter sowed it was so successful that everyone on my block had marigolds that year. It's amazing that those seeds seem to know when it's safe to come up!

Is it too late to do marigolds already? I'm in GA. I have a ton of seeds I would like to do and dread the thought of doing in plugs of individual pots...

I don't usually WSow them until late March. But I don't know about your zone. Should be fine, I think.

Dora,
I have lots of empty jugs collected and you are welcome to have some. We go through about four - 4 litre jugs per week.
