Dutchlady, that Stenopetalla has unusual petals, very different. Seems like it's growth habit is very branching, too. Is it very fragrant?
Gigi, regarding the "no-name" plumeria, from what I hear, early inflos can vary a lot from those of later years, but the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture, was that it reminded me of Kimo in coloration...but there are others it resembles, too. Such a pretty peach color. I hope you continue to post pics of that one in bloom for a few years, would be fun to see how it matures.
Extranjera, your plumeria is simply stunning. I'm at a loss for words, here, but I can understand DL's request for a "stick", really I can.
My resolution this year was to avoid acquiring any large plumeria, that I will have to give away because their size exceeds my space limits.
That resolution doesn't stand much of a chance with pictures of plumeria like yours Hilarious!

Will do Cyra, I'm suspecting Kimo too but not sure yet. I will definitely post more pics, unfortunately the last cold snap took away the inflo but I gained 4 new branches. So, not a bad trade off. This is definitely going to be a large tree.

Cyra, Plumeria stenopetala is the most fragrant one that I know of. It's pretty irresistible once you smell it. Florida Colors has them grafted (the branches are thin and very hard to root) and they can be planted in a hanging basket due to its droopy nature.

It's very typical plumeria but with hints of Jasmine. And strong. One of my two small trees of this species is planted by my front door so it can envelop me when I go out or come in.
That is about the best I can do....

Hanging basket? Hmmmm, somehow the idea of a species plumeria in a basket never occurred to me, but the growth habit of this one would actually make that a possibility, Thanks so much for the idea! Now, what to use as filler? A creeping succulent of some type, I think, that appreciates weekly waterings. Maybe a senecio R. or a "rat-tail" plant? (It's botanical name eludes me) Any suggestions/ideas?

A creeping succulent sounds like an excellent filler if you need one.

I can almost smell them! Thanks for sharing your local blooms, I'm enjoying them (and maybe drooling, just a little)
Must remember to give the newest cuttings a pep -talk, tommorow when I water the rest of the garden....

Awwww:), they are so gorgeous and I am drooling too Drooling ! Thanks Hetty for sharing! I need to refrain cutting my plumeria branches, rooting them and giving them away as rooted plants, this way I can have multiple tips with blooms like you. Lovey dubby

I wish my collection will bloom so the blooms will help me remind my DH how pretty they are and will stop giving me a hard time for wanting more. Like what the kid said in one of the local advertisement "I want more!"

I can relate to wanting a few more plumeria....it's like that potato chip commercial, nobody can have just ....one. "Plumeria Fever" is hard to recover from, Gigi. I tend to relapse every time I pass a plumeria. (Have to watch the budget, now, -was laid off from work on Thurs.-no more cuttings for a while... Sad Blinking )
One thing that helps is to go virtual plumeria shopping on all the plumeria grower sites.
Just remember not to complete transactions, or put everything in wishlists, before leaving the sites...:)

And Hetty, thank you for taking the time to present the info in the link, and direct me there...I'm almost liking the idea of grafting a pair of plumeria standards better than growing a Stenopetala in a basket, because basket growing tends to require more upkeep...grafted plumeria standards sound awesome, and will require less maintenance, I think!

Few plumeria varieties are as photogenic as 'Hawaiian Rose' - I can never walk past it without taking a picture. This is its first bloom for 2013 with hopefully many more to come.Thumb of 2013-04-19/Dutchlady1/bdd820
