Actually, I learned something when I sat hunched over my keyboard, unmoving for hours while tracking down a complicated issue at work. I gave myself leg clots and they went to my lungs - NOT a good thing .

I don 't think that's a b ig risk for most people, I had messed-up legs already.

But they do warn people on long airplane flights to keep moving their legs: "deep vein thrombosis".

That's actually a risk for anyone immobile for any length of time, including flights or driving trips. Preventing that was my biggest motivation to make me get out of my hospital bed and walk after surgery. I figured the intense belly pain caused by moving was less likely to kill me than blood clots.

My husband has fits when we're making long car trips for vacation- I make him stop every couple of hours to get out of the car and walk and move, at least for a few minutes.

When I was in the hospital for gall bladder surgery, even though it was just for a few hours, they put those inflation cuff things on my legs, so it really DOES make sense to stop frequently on long car trips!

So, see? It really does make sense to make it easier to find stuff in the "Ideas" section! Don't want to be losing members to leg clots! Smiling

edited to add: Sigh. My worthless keyboard left the "t" out of "It." (Couldn't possibly have been MY fault!)

Rolling on the floor laughing will also help prevent clots IF you thrash your legs wildly to and fro in the air.

Laughter is good for what ails you!

HOWEVER ... rolling in the isles and leg-thrashing over your head is less recommended for air travel.

It does amuse the other passengers, but then the stews put you in a straightjacket and you have to explain over and over to TSA head-doctors. Or that's what I read ...

Back to being more or less on topic... I wanted to give someone the link to Sharon's edible day-lily articles today, so I trotted over to the Ideas section and looked for the search button. Couldn't find one. Looked for a way to select just articles by Sharon. Couldn't find one.

The plant database lets me search just the plant database, or grab a particular database to drill down into. It would be cool if the Idea archive had the same capabilities. (I don't want much, do I? Just the moon, and maybe a few low-hanging stars too) Hilarious!

Mary, I just tried doing a search for "Sharon daylily" in the Ideas section, and that was the first article that popped up!

And when you are in the Ideas page, the search button is in the menu bar, on the right side at the end, the same as on any page.

Y'all are missing my point. Hilarious! I wasn't asking HOW to search.

My post was intended to tie in with Karen's original point in this thread, which is that the Ideas section has grown so big that it needs some type of organization added to it, such as the ability to search JUST that section, v. searching the entire site. Or a way to see JUST the ideas that a particular person submitted, without having to scroll through (in my case) 3 pages of ideas to find one with Sharon's name on it so I can then scroll to the bottom of that idea and click the link to see all ideas posted by Sharon.

When you click on "Ideas" up in the top navigation section of the site, the only thing you get on the right-hand side of the Ideas list is a link to upload an idea, and a link to the podcasts. I'm saying there should be a search option there, similar to what we have in the plant database. If I go to a regular forum on the site, there's the option on the right-hand side to search JUST that forum, as opposed to the entire site. The Ideas section should have that same capability, at the very least. That way, when someone sees a random idea that disappears as quickly as they noticed it because they were clicking off the home page, they can just jump to the Ideas section and search for the main word or author they remember seeing on the random idea.

It's all about making it easier for the average user. nodding

Hmmm, am I wrong or does the search button on the Ideas page JUST search the Ideas section? It seems like that's what it does, but I'm not really sure. And it's not obvious, even if that is what it does.

But I agree, it would be very helpful to be able to refine a search of the Ideas section.

And who are you calling average? Hilarious!

When you are on the Ideas page and use the search box in the menu bar, it only searches within the Ideas section. Try it, "Sharon Daylily", only ideas and articles come up.

It actually appears that after you do the initial search, that the second search bar, the one that comes up underneath the banner, gives you the option of refining the search, too.

Yes, that was my point in my original post on this thread. When you click on IDEAS at the top of the page, you get 47 pages of STUFF. It's a conglomeration of podcasts, articles, quick tips... It would be nicer if it were at least separated into categories.
