OK... If I click on the "lists" tab, I can go to the right-hand side and "manage my own list," which brings it up in management view, but doesn't give me an easy way to just LOOK at my list. I don't see an easy way to look at my own list from the lists tab.

Am I correct in thinking that right now the only way I can *look* at my own list is to go to my profile?

Would it be possible to add a "look at your list" button to the side of the manage your list page, just like we have a "manage your list" button on the side of the look at your list page?

Or can y'all just tell me where I'm being blind and not seeing easy ways to just look at my list?

Thanks!

edited to add: I say the stuff is on the side of the screen when sometimes it's at the top. Don't get hung up on that. Just tell me if I'm not seeing an option that makes it easy to look at my own list (the way others see it) without having to go to my profile.

Also, while viewing my list, I just hit the button that says "print this page" and if I were not computer-savvy, I wouldn't think it had done anything. You might want to add some explanatory text. It would also be nice to have an option to print entire list as well as just 'print this page' -- or if not the entire list, an option to print entire genus or entire category or something.

I'm just dreaming now, but dreaming is fun. nodding

I'd love to know the answers to your questions in that first post, too! And I like that idea of having a "look at your list" button right next to the "manage your list" button!

I think this will asnswer your question in the 1st post Mary & therefore woofie's too.

If you go to the homepage then look up top there is a tab for lists. Click that & it brings up a list of everyone with plant lists. Scroll to your screen name & click. That takes you to this:
http://garden.org/lists/view/f... (using mine for an example) & there you can see your entire list.

The thing is Ann, Dave has done so many things to make it simple to access stuff from almost anywhere on ATP, but right now, it's NOT simple to access your plant list. You either have to search through the list of names on the lists page to find your own, and if you've not updated your list recently, that can be challenging since it's not alphabetical, OR you have to go to your profile. When you're viewing the page with everyone's list, you have the option to manage your own list, but when you choose that, it doesn't give you an easy way to view your own list.

I'm just looking for ways to simplify life for folks who are less computer-savvy than some of us. And given that I'm fundamentally lazy, I'm looking for a way to make it easier for me -- I don't like having to do a whole bunch of mouse-clicks to access things. Hilarious!

I have the same problem, Mary. Being lazy and wanting Dave to make my life easier! Hilarious! I've gotten around it by making some minor change to my list, then I can go back to the er, list of lists, and find my own name more readily. I was just wishing we could sort the "list of lists" alphabetically, but I like your idea of having a "view my list" button better than that! Of course, BOTH would be nice too..... Whistling

Okay, I understand & agree with both of you that it would be very nice to have a button to access your own list. How about this? How about if the lists tab at the top of the page brought up 2 options. Option 1 would be "view your own list" & option 2 would be the list of names of everyone who has plant lists? Then you would just click on one or the other.
That would make it 2 clicks & you're in your list.
And I also agree that the names should be in alphabetical order for easier finding.

If I'm not mistaken, it's only 2 clicks now. Profile and List.

Alphabetical order would mean that at some point, you'd probably have to scroll through a great many inactive lists to get to those that are active.

It could be an OPTION to sort. Also, the original point was that if I'm managing my list, why can't I then quickly shift to viewing it. I can quickly shift to managing from viewing, so it should be just as quick & easy to do the other. Ultimate goal is to be as easy as possible for new users. Intuitive, if you will. nodding

I've added a couple things:

1) When you click on "Lists" in the menubar, you now have a link to go straight to your own list (either the manage view or the public view).

2) In your Lists Control Panel, you now have a link on the top right to go to your Public View page.
