I tip my hat to you.

I'm far from an expert on Camellias, but the color of this one seems different than the pictures Calif_Sue has and the petals don't seem as ruffled looking as hers (and pictures I found on Google).

Is it possible this is a different Camellia? I'm all ears!

With plants in my garden, I sometimes wonder whether I got the plant that I thought I was buying because the color seems different in my garden. This is especially true with daylilies. My north Georgia clay soil is very acidic (5.0), so I blame the variation in color on that. (I also blame all my other gardening woes on the clay soil. Hilarious! ) For this particularly Camellia, the plant is a Monrovia brand that I bought at Pike's (the best nursery in town), and I left the tag on the plant, so I guess it is just the way it looks in my garden. Here are a couple of photos with the tag.

I tip my hat to you. Fellow Georgian! I am not jealous of your ability to go to Pikes (I live closer to SC)! Whistling

That makes sense! I always thought clay was more alkaline though? I feel your clay soil woes though. Grin

I think it's correct, like mentioned, environment and growing conditions (and cameras) can make blooms look slightly different from one location to the other. Thumbs up
