Thanks @gigiplumeria
Amazing article . I tried one flat graft today for the first time. I see some moisture buildup in the plastic cover .
Hope it is fine ?
When to remove the cover? After the sprouts or 3-4 days ? What do you do ?

Some creature or another knocked a large plant onto this seedling snapping it in half. When I found it the top was wilted but with nothing to lose I cut both pieces and super-glued them together. After a few days the top had perked up and I thought I was successful. Then I see this. I'm guessing that some glue got under the edge and kept it from completely joining together. I could fix it again but I think I'll just leave it be to see what happens. Thumb of 2021-09-11/Wildbloomers/a5a5b1

Oh wow, if it stays that way and grow that way that would be an interesting one.

Yes, I've had one that stayed on for months but the scion never grow any leaves. I discovered yesterday the rootstock rotted when I repotted it and when I removed the scion, there was a thin layer of super glue. Also 2 that I grafted, which I thought was successful, started to rot. I redid again today.

Yes, I am just practicing on one Adenium for now.
I think I Know what happened with mine. The superglue that is fast drying from the dollar store did better. The one I recently used that is not fast drying is tricky. If you graft with super glue that is not fast drying, hands need to be steady as you press the scion to the rootstock and continue to press the scion and only remove your fingers when all sides are dry. Any slight movement and scion gets lifted, the wet super glue seeps in and creates a thin layer of film between the scion and rootstock that hinders successful grafting. The scion will not adhere to the rootstock. Short scions that tips have leaves that are in active growth do better.

I have 3 successful so far, leaves are growing.

I am worried that when the Adenium grow into bigger plant, the "connector" will not be able to support it. Don't you consider the option of growing/triggering additional roots near the second branch area ?

Wow awesome Gigi, you grafted one branch or all the branches in a plant.

What is advisable to avoid suckers, grafting one branch or all?

It does not make a difference. The suckers will grow below the graft line or as a separate branch from the base of the plant. So if you see something growing below the graft line or from the base of the plant you are supposed to remove it. This is a multiple Branch Adeniums, I only grafted on the big branches.

In early grafting stage like this, I noticed that when suckers would grow below the graft and the scion remain unchanged (no growth). It is high likelihood that the graft is not successful and will eventually rot or kill the rootstock.

This plant has 3 more original branches that I plan to cut and re-attach. But the middle branch from the original plant, I want it to grow taller than the rest but once a certain height, I would keep trimming to make sure it will not overtake the grafts.

Ok got it. Need to keep a check on growth below graft line. Thanks :)
It's 4 the day and the one I grafted, the scion is still green. Crossing Fingers!

Don't know what others did, normally I will remove the plastic when I see new leaves started to grow from the grafted scions, something like 0.5 to 1 cm

We have very high humidity and I have better success in grafting scions that have active growth and pencil size or bigger. So I just keep the plastic cover for 3 to 4 days.

Has anyone tried using the fancy grafting tool with the V shape? The reason I ask is I was "gifted" a grafting tool kit. I plant to use it on my mango but thought I might want to try it on my adeniums. It came with grafting tapes.

We too have high humidity but I didn't used any glue and the scion doesn't have active growth. It's almost 14 days, I haven't removed yet. Any suggestions pl.

I am newbie to grafting but I have seen a video where a guy used a v graft tool .

Maybe if it starts to grow you can remove the plastic. I think the idea of putting plastic cover is to make sure that the scion will not dry out before it has a chance to grow.
