Not to encourage anyone in keeping a suspected mosaic virus plant but this one might not be one.

New blooms look healthy and new leaves look healthy. I am still keeping this separate from my other desert roses just as an added precautions.

@Mdev Welcome! it does look different to me. How long have you had this desert Rose? If you just recently purchased it, I would ask the Vendor if the leaf pattern is normal for this variety.

I would continue to separate this from any of your desert roses or plants for sure.

Just another reminder on the Mosaic Virus (MV) infected desert roses, my 2 desert roses that I suspected have virus still have the discoloration and so I still kept them separated from my other desert roses.

Mosaic virus will not kill adeniums but this could easily be spread or transported by thrips, mites, etc (insects) or dirty unsanitized tools or even by us.

So if the Adenium plant with the virus gets infected with those insects and those move to the other ones, they will get the virus. There is no solution for a virus, it is either you live with it (the plant will not die) but better yet dump it so it will not affect your other collections.

I am seeing more and more plants showing online or even in the big box stores that look like they have MVs. So be careful when buying desert roses. Make sure leaves look healthy and no blotches.

I say this and I am currently observing one one of my multi-graft desert rose showing some kind of discoloration. I just harvested its seedpod a month ago but I haven't planted them yet. Now I am wondering if that seedpod has virus too. (Yikes!)

@Wildbloomers do you know if MV can be transferred to seedpods/seeds? I

@GigiPlumeria I am not a botanist or scientist of any sort so these are just my observations. You are correct in your observations of seeing MV in plants for sale online. I have stopped buying plants that I can't touch first after I received plants that were infected and the vendor wouldn't compensate. If you have a trusted vendor you're safer. Isolate all new plants until you see new leaves and new flowers. I do have some infected plants and it is a real pain to have to have to be so careful with disinfecting tools etc. I have been experimenting with seed propagation of infected plants but it's at least a two/three year project so I have no answer yet. I have been using insecticides on my test group (I don't normally use chemicals) to try to keep the insect vectors from spreading to other plants. Also my home is on four city lots so I can keep them separated. If you don't have room to do that you're better off/safer to destroy the infected plants.
Mosaic Virus, specifically Cucumber Mosaic Virus, was first confirmed in Adeniums in 2012. It has run rampant through some Taiwanese growers due to sloppy grafting practices. Cucumber Mosaic Virus can be transmitted through seeds but I have not seen evidence in my seedlings that are six months to a year old so it's possible that the virus infecting my plants is not transmitted through the seeds. Fingers crossed!
Be kind, we all struggle sometimes.

Thank You! I understand... hope you can get us updated on your seedlings progress. I will hold off planting my seedpod until maybe spring so I can watch the progress and not have to keep them over winter them.

Finally, it took a year for this suspected virus to bloom. This is so very slow growing and after I pruned this it attempted to bloom a few times but got aborted. Now it likes its new locations and the leaves are small but no distortion and the "first bloom" seem to be normal and beautiful:

Here's the faded bloom of the sibling, normal size leaves and blooms:

Again caution: I am not encouraging anyone to keep suspected MSV. I have this segregated from my group of healthy desert roses.

I am not encouraging anyone to purchase or keep suspected MSV desert rose. This is totally separate from my main desert roses collection.

@Aashna, I put some bonemeal on my suspected MSV red wine and here it is now. Not sure if wishful thinking but the leaves have improved and the first to bloom but bloom still seem to be off:

Thank You! I am thinking of adding more bonemeal this weekend to see if leaves and blooms continue to improve.

I read somewhere that frequency of bonemeal should be atleast a month. Don't know how far it's true. What's mentioned on your pack

Edited: Good point! I will check on the frequency but I know it has been over 2 months since I last put some bonemeal mixed in potting soil of my desert rose, 'Red Wine'.
