A little bit of sunburn from this summer. Thankfully this one grows fast. (well, faster than my variegated haworthias)

@Kaktus
It looked nearly that bad during the summer. It somehow got into full sun. It wasn't acclimatized. Rolling my eyes.

This H. retusa clump (6" pot) lost its roots a couple months ago, and has been in a state of gradual decay. I was sort of hoping they would grow back.
Thumb of 2022-01-01/Baja_Costero/a167dc
But today I decided with all the rain we've had recently, there's an increased probability of rot, so I separated the clump.
Thumb of 2022-01-01/Baja_Costero/fa8d9d
The mother rosette is at the left (with the fat stem cut all the way back with a paring knife), the rest are various offsets that I snapped off. They will sit in a dry place for a week or so and then get potted up in dry soil (not to be watered or rained on for a week or two, longer for the parent). I would guess the probability is that I have half a dozen of these rooted by spring. Crossing Fingers!

My haworthias go through a cycle of growing well, then losing their roots, to re-rooting, and finally back to growing well... rinse repeat.
I have found that coffee, tea, and rose can all agree on one thing... water everyday.

Also been having some rot problems. Mainly with the echeveria elegant that seems to be rot prone. Last summer, it's roots were eaten up by a root eating beetle. It was then attacked by a fungal problem. Kind of sad, as it was my largest echeveia. It's few surviving pups are still alive... Smiling

I think I can declare victory with this cutting that I rooted in October, now flowering inside.
Thumb of 2022-01-05/Baja_Costero/08d8b3
This plant (cooperi) has a pretty wide stem, so there was a lot of cut surface area and I waited extra long to water.

My variegated Turgida is also flowering. It's just slow growing. Flowers grow EVEN slower. I'm going to try fertilizing it...

This is a hybrid of variegated Retusa. Good news for me that now there are some local farmers started to breed all sort of haworthias, a lot of beautiful coperii, original truncatta etc. almost in par with those posted by Steve's, the prices are still very high, hopefully in 2 years time the price will be affordable.

Hahaha... I think I'll stop buying now, as I am more or less have all the plants that I want ( the cheaper ones). The ones in my top 10 wish list, I have to bring in from other country. From time to time I buy one or two weird ones like the double heads euphorbia that I posted in Euphorbia thread.
But that live auction is really fun, and very cheap, 2 to 3 times cheaper than market place price I still bit for fun on the plant that I like. eg. The market price is 100, I know normally people will bet and deal at 60-70, I bit at 40, sometimes I won.
When you buy from some lousy seller at night, it is really like hunting treasure at night in the wild. This is to share the excitement of treasure hunting.. Look at the time stamp at top left Smiling

Couldn't resist this tiny spiny Haworthia herbacea at the garden center a couple weeks ago. The flower stalk appeared after I purchased it. I think it will get more plump and open with time and regular watering, but I'm not sure.

@Rose, it is so beautiful, I'd love to have one of those..
I think I have made a mistake last week, a seller show me something similar, saying that this is an uncommon hairy haworthia, the first time she had it, and I said "it's aloe pepe, next" Crying Shrug!

That is a lovely, delicate Haworthia.

My H. retusa rescue operation came out like this. The mother rosette and the only offset with any roots each got their own 4" pot, the rest will cohabitate in an underfilled 6" pot where they can contemplate the future together.

Thumb of 2022-01-07/Baja_Costero/a8126f
Thumb of 2022-01-07/Baja_Costero/cc0a25

Only the one rooted offset will get water in the near future.

Looking very succulent! Smiling

This one looks like H. pygmaea acuminata but it came to me under a different name. Some nice orange highlights at the moment.
