Two views of a variegated Haworthia I got late last year. A slow grower but it is doing well.

It is quite small (the pumice is screened to >1/4").

Looking forward to breaking up these clumps in the next couple of months

The last one is by far the slowest of the group, but all of them are ready soon.

I will keep an eye on how you split them. I am looking at some of mine with vertical growth into a small mound.

I just claw them apart after bare rooting them. No special technique there. I do make sure the soil goes bone dry first and stays that way for a week or so afterward.

My cooperi is headed in the same direction as your clumpers, Baja! It has just exploded with babies this year.

I don't have any immediate plans to repot, but I'm wondering about thinning out a few when I do. Or will that not make much difference?

Most of these really compact clones seem to offset like crazy, and eventually become a bit unruly as a result. If you want to reduce things to a solitary rosette when you repot, it probably will grow larger on its own, at least for a few months until it starts offsetting again.

My plant is due for a breakup in a month or so. As you can see it is starting to strangle itself out a little.

Thumb of 2023-09-05/Baja_Costero/82f006

I guess I could also just give it a bigger pot, but I don't think it is ever going to do well with this many offsets.

elgecko, Good form. I had one like that and it just rotted for me. Really makes me mad. I also lost my Tulista Pumila v. Emperor right after it turned this beautiful purple color.
Thumb of 2023-09-10/Stush2019/413284

Replaced it with another one but took 3 weeks to get it and it stretched while in transit. Hopefully it will recover.

Never seen any turn purple before.

That's the way mine arrive earlier this year.
Think it's going to look good when it forms an offset to make the primary plant.
Once it's stretch I don't think it will look good... Unless you wait for years...

I agree that's a nasty stretch . Maybe you could core the plant to see if it branches . Baja seems to have some success with this method

Never seen any Pumila that has purple stress color, only seen some red one, I bought a red one last year, but turned back into green.

Agree with Steve in chopping the stretched Pumila, but it I will wait until it is bigger in size.

Did you buy those from China? 3 weeks, I will be more stressed than the plant if I know the plant was in shipment for 3 weeks.

I purchased from Brisk on Ebay that is out of China and offers free shipping. Price was lower than what others sell for here. I guess purple is the death stress color. I would never core this plant due to them dying so easily. Not the same as other Haworthia. I never see them pup which is common with Tulista Pumila group. I will keep as is and see what develops.

I had a one of these plants turn purple on me . It sat for months looking curled up and terrible. Then suddenly it just turned around and greened up. No idea what caused the stress or reversed it . I just kept watering in the usual way

I did it, I did it! I managed to cross-pollinate my maughanni and truncata and now the maughanni has seed pods! Thumbs up

These are nothing rare or exotic, just nameless cultivars that I bought on Etsy at different times. (Or did the truncata come from eBay? I forget.) I only plan to keep a few seeds for myself, this was just a fun experiment. How many seeds are in each pod, anyway? If you're interested in growing some, send me a tree-mail.

How did you do that? It is difficult to pollinate haworthia due to the small size. I failed to cross pollinate them, usually mine will only success with the help of ants.
Don't worry that you will not get too many seeds, there will be only 1 to 3 seeds inside the pods, the same as Aloes and euphorbias
