We've got an amazing mix of music going on. What makes a piece resonate or stick with you? It can be so many things. experiences, but just something about the nature of the physical sounds too. I love a lot of Alan Parsons Project.

Daft Punk, I am not familiar with except Get Lucky, i guess for pop/electronic I want a more standard danceable tune. I was introduced to that with an exerceise class- probably not 'cool' but was fun.
Plant it and they will come.

Anybody else a John Willians fan? I love the Star Wars music, I'm really mad at Disney for not putting the Obi Wan Kenoni soundtrack on CD. They do not understand that lots of people still use actual 'old fashioned' discs!!! Anyway, I'm planning on getting the Jaws album; and I've never even seen the movie. Don't have to, I just like John Williams. Grin I admit I do prefer his more epic works like the Star Wars. I found Jurassic Park a little too calming for a dinosaur film.

I also enjoy watching video reactions on some specific singers. Somehow it helps me see too if the musical rendition has affected other listeners in the same manner it did to me.

One of the popular ones I keep coming back, when many listeners got introduced to our Filipino talent, Marcelito Pomoy. One of his best covers, singing 'The Prayer'..

And this one is a video reaction compilation to the cover of the song 'You are the Reason' cover sung by Morissette Amon and Daryl Ong

That was me. Smiling I'm obsessed with it; it is literally some of the best instrumentals I've ever heard in my life. The next album I'm wanting is Humanity Chapter IV. Have you heard 'A Million Voices' yet? If not, please do, it's a #1 favorite of mine and an excellent work of musical art. Other 2 Steps I can recommend are the albums 'Dragon' and 'Unleashed'.

Here's 'A Million Voices' if you'd like to listen to it. It has so many different instruments from all over the world and features Japanese vocalizations. It's one of my favorite tracks.

Yesterday, found out an old favorite singer/pillar in our Philippine music industry has passed away..so I went online to look for one of my favorite songs he sung as a lead vocalist. He was a member of the group called APO Hiking Society. Rest in peace, Mr. Danny JavieršŸ™
https://youtu.be/RtqFqDmTBrY

He was also a good composer, and he composed and sung this last song:
https://youtu.be/gbz0k8_KX3A

That last song of his is in Tagalog. The translation of the title means, All of us will eventually die. Sounds too ominous, but the lyrics just imparts as usual his joyful musical attempt of candor and acceptance of come what may. ā¤

Just a translation of first part of that song:
All of us will eventually die
Would you like to come along
Where do you want to lie
When you finally go by

So let me go ahead..promise me you will join me and come by too..for it is sad to be alone, much happier to be with you...

Another favorite of mine: Josh Groban - To Where You Are..when we all need prayers in trying moments..when songs can help give us prayerful support.

https://youtu.be/f322RjQIdsY

This other song, I first heard it in an episode of the series Ally McBeal, where he also played a short role, I remembered feeling such love Lovey dubby as I hear and clearly understand the lyrics. Many times, many songs these days, one can hardly understand the lyrics.: You're Still You by Josh Groban

A Million Voices..............pretty cool. There was a TSFH 25 tracks I found, it was way over an hour so I played it this morning while I was making my 4 dozen chocolate zucchini muffins. When I was listening, it came to me that those tracks (to me) seem to be in the same genre as Ennio Morricone's "Ecstacy of Gold".

It came to me this morning while I was listening to another YouTube with 36 tracks that TSFH in some places sound quite a bit like Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Just snippets here and there.

Currently watching/listening: cover song I'm Your Angel, done by Katrina Velarde, featuring Budakhel ( Bugoy Drilon, Daryl Ong, Michael Pangilinan). It is nice to see towards the end of the video, the names of the live instruments/orchestral people behind the scenes:

Last night I finished listening to a 2-cd set of the ragtime music of Scott Joplin. The pianist was William Albright. I remember that when I was in high school the movie The Sting came out (1973), that used Scott Joplin songs in the score. So there was a Scott Joplin craze that lasted several years.

The amusing thing was that using Scott Joplin's music in that film was an anachronism. The film was set in the 1930s. Scott Joplin's music was from the the first decade of the 20th century. Oh well, they made it work, and very few people caught on (ore cared) that the pieces didn't all fit together in time.

I can remember high school events that did the same sort of mix. I think one Sadie Hawkins' Day dance was gangster & moll themed, with the girls in flapper dresses and the guys in 3-piece suits with fedoras. Maybe cigars, too, but those couldn't be lighted on school property. And Scott Joplin music was part of the entertainment.

Sounds like I got you hooked on TSFH! Smiling Listen to the track: 'Away With your Fairies' for some Scottish like melodies, and 'Stallion' for a bit of spooky western. 'Mountain Call' has a bit of Irish like sound to it.

David,
The Entertainer and Maple Time Rage are my favorites from Scott Joplin.

Johannian, my younger brother and I noticed something in a few of Scott Joplin's rags that went over our heads when we were younger. If you listen to "The Chrysanthemum," about three minutes in, suddenly the chords start sounding "Jewish," like something you'd hear in Fiddler on the Roof. We noticed the same thing in one or two other of Joplin's rags. I think that Jewish songwriters were starting to show up on Tin Pan Alley at the time Joplin was writing, and Joplin paid attention to what he heard and adapted the ideas for his own music.
