Bea, your plant is very pretty! I have one that was kept in a tough spot all winter indoors of course. It isn't photo worthy right now but it will bounce back once it is outdoors.
Sherri, what low temps do you think Stromanthe Triostar tolerates? Maybe I will kick it out of the house already.

Around here in the top of 9a, the white edges brown off when the temp goes into the 30's. They are still alive but always take months to come back. By the time they look halfway decent it is winter again.

Your Stuttgard is amazing. Sadly they do not do well in the southeast.

No they do not. This as a 'plant of the moment' in the mid-2000's. I used to sell them. They never, EVER did well in Florida

Did you try full shade?
Even here, if it gets over 1hr of sun it either goes mostly green or the white bits burn (or both). I learned very quickly to keep it in the shade (none of the vendor instructions recommend this, by the way, but it works a treat).

I really Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby that Maple tree. That will be a show stopper. What is the name of it?
I have a small maple tree collection and have one similar.
My tree was originally composed entirely of the white and green foliage as it was a variegated cultivar. These sorts of variegations are common in plants and occur spontaneously on lots of different species. They are considered desirable from a horticulture standpoint and so are often put into the nursery trade. But, depending on the plant species and variegation in question, they vary in their long-term stability. In some cases the whole plant remains in the variegated form, or with only a small shoot here and there reverting to green. On others, though you may observe large parts of the plant reverting to the "normal" green form on which the variegation originally occurred. Also same issue with a tri-color maple-pink-green and white. They are both small understory trees and the colors vary from year to year.

Sherri, what low temps do you think Stromanthe Triostar tolerates? Maybe I will kick it out of the house already.

Mine has survived temps in the upper 20's for a night or two, like Alice said they get some browning on the leaves, but bounce back. As with any tropical plant, they do better planted in a protected area from frost and cold north winds, out in the open they get toasted.

These Stromanthe Triostar I took a picture of last week at Leu Gardens zone 9b near me, look fantastic after our freezing temps for over 7 hours, not a sign of browning, they are under tree canopy. We also had lots of nights in the upper 30's for many hours this year.

It is not the shade that is the problem it is the hot steamy nights. They just can't handle the constant humidity and they literally melt.

Sherri, those blooms really put that Triostar over the top. Lovey dubby
With mahonia, I believe our issue is winter burn, so it takes some time for the leaves to repair. I never noticed them melt from humidity or heat but then again, I don't grow them.

I also love the Acer Campestre Carnivale. I haven't been successful with Canna Stugart. They stay scrawny, come back smaller if they come back at all. I tried a couple.

Tofi I have no idea if the holly with white foliage is female or male. It's a small shrub has no tree trunk . I'll have to keep track of the white stems next fall when the berries form. Red berries with white leafs would definitely stand out.
I have several others holly's that are small trees and leaves green and white trim about 10-12' they all always have berries.

I just thought the white leaves was a sport that popped up. It probably won't last long . Crossing Fingers! it does.

Could the "holly" possibly be a Variegated Osmanthus heterophyllus?

I believe that is a true Holly, Osmanthus heterophyllus variegatus has opposite leaves, and the variegate form are bit grey-ish.

True, I could not tell how the leaves are arranged from the photo and I thought of Osmanthus when Bea mentioned it is "a small shrub."

I actually look and stare over several time at Bea's photo, just to see whether those are alternate vs opposite.
This small leaves plants with compact and ornate foliages tends to make me dizzy just by seing them.
I can stare on many plants like that and enjoy my dizzyness for quite a long time. It happens all the time in the garden.
