how do you want to use the quilt? are you going to hang it for display? or take it out to the garden and sit on it or use it on your bed? quilting is not easy. it takes time and requires lots of patience. my aunt made quilts as her hobby. she was very good at it. but her creations didn't happen over night. I would suggest going to thrift shops to look for fabrics. take the time to plan out your design first on paper with your cousin. share your ideas. I'm sure the two of you will be able to come up with a great design that includes mushrooms and toadstools.

There are LOTS of garden themed fabrics, I collect many for the quilts I make. It's not hard to find them, just need to get a design idea to put them together. (My avatar is my first quilt I ever made.)
You can find fabrics for specific types of plants like roses, dahlias, daisies or even fruit & veggies, cactus & succulents or all foliage leaves. Here is a thread I started in the Classified back in 2019 with three quilts I made. I have added many to my blog but not all garden themed.
