Looks as if the pink dogwoods, blushed and turned white. Perhaps it was a "chimera" moment? But it made a beautiful banner.

@Fleur569 They are much more pink when small. Last year, when I took the photo, was unusual for them. They were paler, but also stayed curled. If you look at the picture closely you can see that on most of the blooms the 4 petals are not detached from each other.

I suspect that this is actually a bee driven hybrid pink as most of the other trees nearby are white. The petals being a pale pink and not the brighter pink you find on some varieties.

Dogwoods in bloom are a welcome sight anytime. I'm glad you commented on the unusual conformation of the blooms. It was something I noticed, and it's a good reminder to us all that plants are individuals, and they respond to their growing conditions, some more so than others. If you're a photographer, and compare the photos of same plant from one year to the next, you become keenly aware of this.

So true! Many plants are totally different from year to year. I love the dogwood though, my Mom's favorite flowering tree.
