Gumption is another you don't hear much. Maybe if we say it more, actual gumption (the good kind, not the unmitigated gall kind) will spread around into places where more could be used.

German based mostly. Catacorner HAS several legal spellings, means simply opposite corners of a square, (like boxers in a boxing ring), I did misspell catawampus, means when things go sideways. (ha, gave me collywobbles, upset tummy in British slang)
Tissyprissles my dad used on his children helping him work calves, (cutting the bull calves) a heifer has under her tail, tissyprissles, while a bulls butt is clean-no tail feathers, chuckl.

Totally. And possibly schizo. That's why I was curious what silly words these spell checker things "know." What's odd is that the browser I'm using has the same name as the search I used to compare dictionary entries. Are the 2 parts of this same entity not on speaking terms? And of course I'm online if I'm using a browser.

When I put in Slubberdegullion spell check gave me Tatterdemalions another interesting word.

I am more used to the spelling as Cate corner.

Have to say this thread is making me look up some words.
