Please forgive me all if I digress a smidge here.
I did not want to start a separate thread for this. I just jumped all over a Phragmipedium on e-bay, Phrag. Memoria Maria Theresa Fighetti. Her husband Carlos is a good friend of mine and got me involved with the AOS Judging Program back in 1995! His dear wife Maria passed about 12 years ago and I just had to have it!!
It is a monstrous plant, a kovachii hybrid!!! It is red of course.

This world just gets smaller every day.🥲

It is a large plant, 8" pot and I am having it shipped bare root.
Hey Ursula, I am hoping for a division at least so I can bring you a flowering sized piece!! Crossing Fingers! Thumbs up

Congratulations on scoring such a large plant Bill, can't wait to see it blooming.
Our club auction was a huge success. We brought in $7500. in 4 hours! AOS Judge Laura Newton always does a great job as auctioneer. One lady bought $1200 worth of plants and supplies Blinking Blinking and we had a large Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis sell for $425. The rain held off until we were heading to the parking lot.

Ken, your Graf's Pick is gorgeous Lovey dubby I can't find it in the RHS but it's probably one of Rafael Romero's plants ( Plantio la Orquedia in Sarasota)

That sounds just great! $7,500 really helps any club continue on.

Yes, I heard back from the seller about the Phrag. They were happy to learn of my connection to the Fighetti's! They said that they picked it up a few years back and the plant grows like a beast. I love to hear that kind of stuff because maybe I will have little trouble flowering it. I hope that while it is pot less, I can easily take a division or two to share.

Lindsey, Graf's Pick was purchased from Odom's, in Ft. Pierce, a few months ago. She bloomed in February.

My Adastra is blooming...not smelling any scent yet :(

Rhynchorides 'Norma' is quite fragrant!
This was a "bag" orchid from 2017

Den. Adastra should be fragrant after a couple of days. It should smell like raspberries. The sunnier and warmer that the conditions are should bring out the fragrance.
Fragrant or not, it is pretty.

Rhynchorides Norma 'Sweet Fragrance' is the most popular clone on the market.
I have to say though that the Rhynchostylis parent is so dominant that I struggle to see the influence, if any, of the Aerides parent. ⁉️

Has anyone been to the NYBG Orchid Show.
Is it worth the tolls and parking fees?

I just looked this up on line. I can't believe the admission fees are something like $28-35 just to get in. That is pricey!

But the show has gone very artsy with this new set up that was cut short by the pandemic in 2020.
But I would have to change my above statement maybe. I mean 30 bucks just to get in! Man. If there is a charge for parking, I would have to really think about it now.
To me, we do not need to feature orchids in some type of art extravaganza. They should be the show and nothing but the show!
Before I thought there was a 100% chance I would go. Now that might be less then 50%.

In addition, tunnel or bridge into the city are now at least 12 bucks on top of that.
