Hello everyone,
I purchased a very handsome Philodendron "Shangri-La" about a month ago from a reputable nearby nursery. The plant was very healthy and looked great for about the first three weeks home and actually started to grow an impressive number of new shoots and leaves. I thought it was off to a good start.
Unfortunately, some of the leaves are beginning to yellow and develop brown spots around the edges. I suspect this may be from over-watering (I've been watering it moderately twice per week, but not to the point of soil saturation or leakage from the bottom of the substrate).
The plant started off living in a corner of my living room with exposure to indirect, southern light. I had it in that spot specifically to mask some unsightly power cables and a speaker. since noticing the yellow leaves, however, I relocated it about a week ago to our foyer where it gets a little more indirect light from the east. The plant is still in its original soil/container and i don't think it needs to be re-potted. Humidity in our home varies from about 40-60% by my estimate. So far, i haven't fertilized the plant and am not sure what the best kind for it is.
I'm concerned for the plant, because it is one of my favorites and looks beautiful. It also wasn't cheap, lol. I fear it may suffer from bacterial leaf spots, and am considering cutting the "sick" leaves. Then again, maybe I'm over-watering and need to cut back to once per week and only once the top 2-3" of soil are dry.
Photos are attached. I welcome any feedback and assistance.
