Pieris 'Mountain Fire' - double show with the blooms and the new foliage

Brunnera 'Jack Frost' - another double show, love the foliage

Thumb of 2013-04-11/Bonehead/7d3ab5

Barrenwort - yet another foliage plant with a dainty little flower

Thumb of 2013-04-11/Bonehead/227638

Dicentra - one of my favorites, my granddaughter calls them 'Bloody Hearts' which somehow sounds more macabre

Deb, love your flowers. Your pieris is lovely. It is one of my favorite. I got a third one for the yard a couple of years ago with maroon flowers, but it hasn't taken off yet. I'm not familiar with the barrenwort. I'll have to keep a lookout for it. Looks like something that might fit well into my woodland area. I like the white flowers.

Greg, you caught me out being lazy. Yes, it is epimedium.

Jewell, it would fit nicely in a woodland setting. It likes shade and will spread, although not aggressively. Great foliage plant, with the bonus of dainty little flowers in spring.

Great pics, BH!

Some from my yard this morning:

Clematis alpina 'Stolwijk Gold'. This clematis is FINALLY taking off---after waiting for 3-4 years. I gave it some lime this year, and I think that's what it needed.

A Chinese forget me not, in the middle of my foxglove meadow.
Thumb of 2013-04-14/kosk0025/80e6c7

Viola sororia 'Freckles'. whole plants, and close-up. I started these from seed in 2012. Blooming for the first time.

Same island bed along driveway as shown previously, but now with red tulips blooming. Viburnum 'Spring Bouquet' alongside. (BH helped me ID that tall shrub last year. It's one of my favorites b/c it blooms Jan-early May).
Thumb of 2013-04-14/kosk0025/1f0554

Omphalodes cappadocia 'Starry Eyes' (navelwort). Columbine foliage alongside.

Stephanie, your freckles violet is quite unique. Like it. Love seeing a new blue bloomer, Omphalodes cappadocia 'Starry Eyes'. Your yard is very park-like and look like a nice place for a stroll. Hurray!

I agree I love those speckled violets! Beautiful yard!
Jewell, there are some interesting epimediums out there, a choice in leaf color, or shape, and different color blooms too! (I love these little plants because for shade they're perfect!) I tip my hat to you.
