Last night's rain has given me a couple of FFOs.

That yellow daylily bloomed for the third time today but it looks very different. Look how weird it is the filaments have fused with petals.




I made a random cross with it just to see will happen.

There's a lot going on with that yellow.

Very cool way to display your blooms, digger!

I know live heading is a thing but I just wouldn't have the heart to pull off the blooms before they are spent…

It took me a long time to get the nerve to live head. But now that I've done it, it is so nice to go outside in the morning and see all the clean fresh blooms without the spent blooms causing them not to open or drippy spent blooms discoloring them.

I pull at sunset because bloody reds and bloody purples stain hands.

Try it Zoia. I find live heading to be an enjoyable activity in the evening, spending time with the blooms before they wither. And you can't beat the fresh garden the next morning.

I love this time of year. You really can't get me in a bad mood. If ya do I will go pull weeds. Also my automatic alarm has started and I am up around 5 am bare foot in dew yard inspecting what's fixing to open. it's bloom time and you all help in my fix. Thanks.

I have had a few that have bloomed fully closed... example Lillians David Phillips the very top stayed green and didn't open you could tell it wanted too it was busting out at the seams. The Loud as Thunder I split top so it could at least open. I wonder what caused that . I really love Lillians David Phillips and hopefully the hotter it gets they will bust open. Or maybe I will split top if I know it should be open. Poor buldging blooms turned yellow younger blooms still coming.
Keep them pictures coming. Keep feeding the addiction.
Oh it's bad who else goes out at 10:30 pm with a spot light.?

I've not gone out that late, but have live-headed until I couldn't stand the mosquitoes anymore.
