Some new iris, planted last year, that I'm delighted by

Only the Shadow Knows just opened this morning

Flash Mob

Rumor has it - this iris is just stunning - it has formed a huge clump. I strongly recommend this. I've never seen Ink Patterns, it's celebrated parent, but from the pictures I've seen of Ink Patterns, Rumor blows it away

And of course, So Excited. I love that thing

Smoke and Thunder is now growing in a third location, among the Aristocracy.

Insaniac is such a nice iris. I recall that when I bought it, I had buyer's remorse and thought I should have gotten something else. Now I'm glad to have it.

I saw @dirtdorphins photo of Cold Fusion and it went on my must have list. I got it several years ago but it was in a bad place and never bloomed. Now, it is happy, has formed a huge clump. The flowers are enormous. I highly recommend it.

This may be sacriledge, but I am actually considering getting rid of the gorgeous Money in Your Pocket, Wister notwithstanding, or at least culling most of it because it is too tall and always falls over. I don't want a garden full of stakes, especially as I have another iris that looks like it, is shorter and doesn't fall over

Money in Your Pocket

Blue My Mind

I only grow TBs. I grow them not because they are TALL but because they have huge flowers. The stem should be strong enough to hold up the flower -- if it needs to be shorter, fine with me.

If I had a place to sell bouquets, it would be different, since every single stalk ends up in a vase anyway. I have stakes in my vegetables, but that is a different situation.

Is it in shade? I find that ones in too much shade have a tendency to grow excessively tall and then tip over. If that's the case, have you tried just moving it to a sunnier spot? Or planting it just an inch deeper? I also had that problem in my first season with Sharp Dressed Man, but now that it has settled in and put down more roots, it's no longer happening.

Blueberry Parfait - first bloom after years of waiting - and maybe the last as it has no increase. It is so pretty

I don't think it's in shade, but I'll try a new location for it and see what happens. Appreciate the advice!

This post is mainly for my own use, a list of all the things that are topsy turvy. Today my garden task is to mark various mislabelled plants and clumps I want to move while I can still see the flowers and know what they are. The list below is likely boring AF to anyone but me.

But, here is a weird thing in the "silly bird" category:
My gardening table is on my covered back porch. Above it in the corner is a row of pegs on which I keep coiled extension cords. Robins decided to build a nest atop the coiled cords (there are large trees aplenty within 20 feet). As they sat on their eggs, I walked back and forth, even sawing, drilling, and hammering. No reaction. Now the babies have hatched and birds have all of a sudden decided I might eat their babies and are dive bombing me. As I said - silly birds.

-

The List

1) Smoke and Thunder now growing in three places - best bed, where expected, huge thriving clump in middle raised bed, and one maverick fan in with Aristocracy. I adore it so it can grow wherever it likes

Magical - in dog bed as labelled, and a stray fan in La Scala. Leave the La Scala fan where it is as it bloomed and is happy.Dog bed clump hasn't bloomed so I don't really know if it is Magical.

La Scala escapee in with Montmartre - that is for Stasia

All Night Long - blooming in north bed as expected. Also blooming in dog bed in group marked Purple Ritz. Don't know if any of those are Purple Ritz.

Purple Ritz blooming in group marked Happenstance. Don't know if any of that is Happenstance.

Friendly Advice is not - NOID Stout

Ambrosie - looks like I still have one in north bed

Small mystery fan in shade line of door bed - move for more sun

Surprise Haunted Heart blooming in group marked Decadence. Don't know if any of the other fans are Decadence. Make label for HH and leave it there. If it's happy, I'm happy.
