You are absolutely right. I did think about growing moss along the side, but I don't know how quickly that would end up on the steps and become slippery. Any suggestions about things that would climb up but not be too invasive?

Greg, Do you mean the grey one in the top middle or the red one towards the bottom middle. The grey is silverline. I'll have to check the red one when I get home, but it's a beauty. When it rains and the light reflects off the wet leaves and it looks hot pink.
