It is my sad duty to have to share the news that flaflwrgrl passed away two days ago. She battled cancer heroically for the past 3 months but unfortunately lost. There is no obituary to link to, but a few of her friends put together some things she liked best and they Tree-mailed it to me and I am including it below.

Friends of Ann said:She loved her Florida tropical garden even the pests
She was passionate about her birds and butterflies
She loved the old songs
She was fiercely patriotic
She loved her home
She wasn't wealthy except in compassion and common sense
She contributed many photos and comments to this garden site
She loved all her dogs and leaves her newest companion Raven.
She will be missed by her friends here ..and by her beloved garden

I admire and respect Ann's courage, her resilience, her honesty, her passion, her loyalty, and—most of all—her love. She made me laugh when I didn't think I could even smile. She has been my caring support throughout all the years I have known her. Along with many of her friends, these last few weeks I was able to return some of that support. Our friendship has been an honor and a privilege to have. Ann was one of a kind and I will miss her…💚🌻💙🌺💜

So well said Debra, Ann was such an inspiration to me. Her love was fierce and real and I am a better person for knowing her.
I will miss her advice and honesty, she pulled no punches and was true to herself and her friends. She will be forever remembered in my heart.💓💔💓

She was unfailingly kind, although she often hid that with a gruff exterior. The world is much poorer for her passing……..

It's been awhile Ann, I had no idea of the battle you were fighting. I wish I had known. We lost touch over the years but you still would cross my mind. I occasionally would log on here to check an see if you were still here. You join a list of special people that I met thru Dave's gardening websites that are no longer here in this world. But I know you are somewhere. You will be missed Ann (flaflwrgrl) ❤️

I haven't been on the same threads as Ann for quite awhile now, but I know she will be missed by so many. Prayers for her family and friends

So true, she was a feisty one, yet full of love for others. She had recently lost her husband, Wayne, and then this.

Ann had a very special way of connecting with people, whether it be a neighbor, or someone who lived states away. Her connections were often instant, and always, I think, lasting.

She was a great contributor on this site, and with others privately through tree-mails. I know we'll all miss her deeply. All I have to say about this awful illness that took her is...no fair.

Miss you Ann. I will never forget you.

It is very unfortunate that this happened, and I am so sorry to hear of it. Ann was one of the first people to welcome me on the site two years ago, and was always willing to help out with things related to gardening.

Ann was also the first to welcome me to the site 7 years ago. I really appreciated her treemails, posts, and her outstanding blogs. She added a lot to our gardening community. I loved how down to earth she was. She constantly had me smiling and laughing. I'll always remember her!

Oh my gosh, this is such shocking and sad news. Ann was always so kind and helpful. I enjoyed chatting with her about different plants that grow here in Florida and I so appreciated her advice regarding an issue our dog was having years ago. She will truly be missed.

Oh, lots of music. Did you know that Ann's husband was a Nashville songwriter for a major label?

If I've done this right, this was her last post with us, appreciating the natural beauty. Rest in peace, fellow gardener!

It truly saddens my heart to read of Ann's passing on. I've never met Ann in person, but feel as though I had. Since way back in the Dave's garden years she was always so helpful with her great knowledge of gardening. I will really miss her, as I'm sure many of us will.

So very sorry to hear of Ann's passing. I really enjoyed her posts, I primarily knew her through @lovemyhouse garden photo threads. We were a lively bunch and would totally get off topic rapidly. I'll have to go read some of her blogs and enjoy more takes on her life. I'll miss you Ann.
