Beautiful, are those peony tulips?

Thanks.

I have been working on it for years. Late spring brings the tall beared iris and I had a bed in the middle. I see stalks comming! Big Grin

Then the daylily beds all around that backyard. Also lilies for before daylily colors. So now I have really been working on adding the tulips and some daffs back there so that the daylily beds are a riot of spring color. It is all starting to come together but still needs more work.

Ha- ha. Last fall I put in 4,999 bulbs I had ordered. This year I have already ordered 7,707 bulbs. I am hopeless , I just love the daffs and tulips.

Tangerine Beauty is a species. Which yellow ones are you referring to?

Last winter I got on an exercise kick as I really needed to loose weight. Lost 25 pounds which was very good. But mostly I catch up on my reading and waiting for spring during the winter.

Yes, I want to try the species. Don't know which ones but it might just depend on who has what and how easy it is to order? I might not want a hundred but you never know, I would definitively order a hundred if I knew they would come back every year. I do have pretty good luck with Hostas and they need a cold spell, they do not get much of one, but most seem happy for now. Green Grin!

Scheepers Bulbs
http://www.johnscheepers.com/

Go look here. I buy here every year. I haven't yet because they open the shopping cart for orders sometime in mid May. But excellent bulbs and you can get in quanties from 10 to 100 of a variety.

There are many species tulips see which you like. Also the Emperor, Kaufmanniana and Greigii classes are perennial. The zones are listed after the information on each tulip, there are quit a few listed for zone 8. Also it is a fact that species tulips generally need very little chill.

Yes, I downloaded an article from 'Easy to grow Bulbs.com', they said most species tulips don't require a chilling period. I am not sure about the company but I only found two I liked. I will check out Scheepers, thanks for the link, sounds good. Hurray! Green Grin!

I have bought from Easy To Grow Bulbs. Good company. But for spring flowering bulbs I would choose Scheepers. They have a very good selection of all bulbs and a great selection of Species Tulips.

Another great place would be Brent& Beckies. They have great bulbs also and I buy from them each year also. They have some really nice species tulips also. whittallii, Tinka, Helena and humilis 'Lilliput' are all species that I am getting from B&B this fall. Look in the misc. class there.

And McClure & Zimmerman has a really nice selection of species. I looked in the catalog and most of the species are listed to zone 8 but some are listed to zone 9 or 10. Amazing.

And I would recommend the firespray tulips. Really great perennial types and also listed to your zone 8. And how about mulitiflowered in general? McClure and Zimmerman have a multiflowered section and again these are listed to zone 8.

Just some suggestions.
